Demofilo Fidani (born 8 February 1914 on a steamship bound for Cagliari; died 4 April 1994) was an Italian film director (24 films), set designer (more than 200 films), painter, and a regarded medium and author. [1] [2]

As director, Fidani specialized in spaghetti westerns and used many different pseudonyms [3] including Miles Deem,Lucky Dickinson, Alex Demos, and Danilo Dani. [4] [5] Many of his films were westerns, in which he used the names of well-known characters such as Butch Cassidy, Macho Callahan, Django and Sartana, as well as titles that were variations of popular titles. Besides his westerns, he directed crime films, sex comedies, and, in 1972, a giallo called A.A.A. Masseuse, Good-Looking, Offers Her Services. [6] Fidani's regular actors included Jack Betts (also known as Hunt Powers), Gordon Mitchell, Jeff Cameron and Klaus Kinski. [7]

Accolades

In 1977, Fidani received the gold medal for "Una vita per il cinema". [8]

Legacy

Fidani has been called "a sort of Italian Ed Wood" because of the extremely low budget of his spaghetti westerns [9] as well as his bizarre characters and inattention to continuity. [10]

Testi continued stunt work and getting roles in low budget genre films until he was cast in Vittorio De Sica's film The Garden of the Finzi-Continis. Following this film, Testi became a star in Italy, appearing in some artistic films by Giuseppe Patroni Griffi and Claude Chabrol. Testi also continued to work in poliziotteschi genre films in the 1970s as well as a few gialli, and gained infamy for his publicised relationships with actresses Ursula Andress and Charlotte Rampling.

Emilio Luigi Carlo Giuseppe Maria Ghione, known as Emilio Ghione, was an Italian silent film actor, director and screenwriter. Ghione was best known for writing, directing, and starring in the Za La Mort series of adventure films, in which Ghione played a likeable French Apache and 'honest outlaw'. Luciano Ercoli was an Italian film director, screenwriter, producer and unit production manager. Ercoli's career spanned approximately two decades before his retirement in the late 1970s, and saw him direct several films in the giallo genre, as well producing several Spaghetti Westerns. Ercoli was married to Spanish actress Nieves Navarro, who has appeared in several of the films he worked on.

Enzo Pulcrano was an Italian actor and writer active in the 1970s and known for Rulers of the City (1976), La Banda Vallanzasca (1977) and A Pugni Nudi (1974), in which he received a writing credit. He was born on 31 May 1943 in Acerra, Italy, near Naples.
