Deon Taylor is an American filmmaker, known for his work in horror and thriller films. He is the founder of Hidden Empire Film Group.

Life

Taylor was born in Chicago and grew up in Gary, Indiana. During high school, he with his brother and mother moved to Sacramento, California. He has stated, “Gary, Indiana is the murder capital of the world, so my entire freshman basketball team is dead." [1] He played basketball professionally, earning a spot in the NBA Entertainment League. [2]

Taylor currently resides in Sacramento, California, filming there and Los Angeles. [3]

Career

Taylor founded Hidden Empire Film Group in Sacramento, California, and wrote and directed his first film, Dead Tone. [4] Taylor went on to shoot a horror series for BET, Nite Tales: The Series , [5] a low budget series starring Flavor Flav that drew one million viewers on its first airing. [6] Taylor’s slasher thriller Chain Letter was released to select theaters on October 1, 2010. [7]

Nite Tales: The Movie was released on DVD in 2008 with a DVD release of the series pending in the future. [6] Taylor has paired with Jamie Foxx to co-direct a future national television release titled Tommy's Little Girl. [7]

Public Enemy is an American hip hop group formed by Chuck D and Flavor Flav on Roosevelt, New York, in 1985. The group rose to prominence for their political messages including subjects such as American racism and the American media. Their debut album, Yo! The Surreal Life is an American reality television series that records a group of celebrities as they live together for a limited number of weeks. The House Next Door: Meet the Blacks 2 is a 2021 American parody black comedy horror film directed by Deon Taylor, and written by Taylor and Corey Harrell. A sequel to the 2016 film Meet the Blacks, it stars Mike Epps and Katt Williams, with Bresha Webb, Lil Duval, Zulay Henao, Tyrin Turner, Michael Blackson, Andrew Bachelor, Gary Owen and Danny Trejo in supporting roles. In the film, which primarily satirizes Fright Night, Carl Black (Epps) moves his family back to his childhood home, encountering a mysterious new neighbor (Williams), a pimp who may be a vampire.
