Department of Architecture is a government department under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works in Bangladesh. The Department of Architecture is the only Government organization to impart architectural services under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works and responsible for designing all Government buildings and also for public housing schemes across the country. The Department not only prepares architectural designs and layout plans for public building and housing projects but also advises the Government on policy matters relating to human settlement and land use planning. It also offers advice / recommendation/assistance with respect to master plans, architectural plans, environmental conservation work, general architectural services etc. related to different projects as per requirements of different Ministries, Departments, Directorates, and Corporations etc

It is located in Segunbagicha, Dhaka, Bangladesh. [1] [2] [3] Mir Manzurur Rahman is the chief architect of the department. [4]

History

Department of Architecture was established in 1952 through the Principal Architect Construction Construction Act of 1952. [1] It is led by a chief architect. [5] In 2013 following the Rana Plaza disaster the department was given the responsibility to improve safety. [6]

The Central Public Works Department is the Indian government authority in charge of public sector works. The CPWD, under the Ministry of Urban Development now MoHUA, deals with buildings, roads, bridges, flyovers and other complicated structures including stadiums, auditoriums, laboratories, bunkers, border fencing and border roads. The CPWD came into existence in July 1854 when Lord Dalhousie established a central agency for execution of public works and set up Ajmer Provincial Division. It has now grown into a comprehensive construction management department, which provides services from project conception to completion, and maintenance management.

He became fluent in multiple languages and is one of the youngest artists to have a solo exhibition at the National Art Gallery with work in permanent collection at the Liberation War Museum. He finished four years of American high school in eight months with honours and was a college senior by the age of eighteen, teaching university courses in engineering at the age of 21.

Patricia Randall Tindale was an English architect and civil servant. She joined the Civil Service at the Ministry of Education in 1949, and moved to its development group to develop prototypes for school buildings. Tindale moved to the Ministry of Housing and Local Government in 1960 and was a founder member of its housing research & development group the following year. She joined the merged Department of the Environment's Housing Development Directorate in 1970 before leaving the research sector to lead the Building Regulations Professional Division in 1972. Between 1982 and 1986 she served as the Department of the Environment's chief architect and then retired from the Civil Service. The Royal Society of Arts established a lecture series and an award and named a meeting room in her honour.
