Derrick Wayne Graham (born June 9,1958) is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Kentucky House of Representatives representing the 57th House district,which includes the Kentucky capital city of Frankfort,since January 2003. [1] In 2023,Graham became the first African American to lead a legislative caucus in the Kentucky House of Representatives. [2]
Graham earned his Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from Kentucky State University and his Master of Arts in political science from Ohio State University. [4]
For the majority of his career,Graham taught social studies at Frankfort High School. During the 1990s,Graham was elected as a Frankfort city commissioner. [2]

He represents Kentucky's 12th House district,which includes Crittenden,McLean,Union,and Webster counties. Gooch switched parties from Democratic to Republican in December 2015. He has served as chair of the House Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Energy for over 20 years.
