The Detroit Bright's Goodyears were a minor league professional ice hockey team, and one of the four founding members of the International Hockey League in 1945, and operated until 1949. They played their home games at Olympia Stadium in Detroit, Michigan.

The Detroit Red Wings are a professional ice hockey team based in Detroit. The Red Wings compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference, and are one of the Original Six teams of the league. Founded in 1926, the team was known as the Detroit Cougars until 1930. For the next two seasons, the team was named the Detroit Falcons, before changing their name to the Red Wings in 1932.
The International Hockey League (IHL) was a minor professional ice hockey league in the United States and Canada that operated from 1945 to 2001. The IHL served as the National Hockey League's alternate farm system to the American Hockey League (AHL). After 56 years of operation, financial instability led to the league's demise. Six of the surviving seven teams merged into the AHL in 2001.
The 1991–92 NHL season was the 75th regular season of the National Hockey League. The league expanded to 22 teams with the addition of the expansion San Jose Sharks. For the first time, the Stanley Cup Finals extended into June, with the Pittsburgh Penguins repeating as Stanley Cup champions, winning the best of seven series four games to none against the Chicago Blackhawks.
The 1990–91 NHL season was the 74th season of the National Hockey League. The Stanley Cup winners were the Pittsburgh Penguins, who won the best of seven series 4–2 against the Minnesota North Stars. This was the last NHL season to end in May.
The Port Huron Flags were a minor league professional ice hockey team located in Port Huron, Michigan. The Flags competed in the International Hockey League between 1962 and 1981. For three of those seasons from 1971 to 1974, Port Huron was a farm team of the Detroit Red Wings, and were known as the Port Huron Wings. Port Huron won the International Hockey League playoff title, known as the Turner Cup, in 1966, 1971, and 1972.
The Chicago Shamrocks were an ice hockey team based in Chicago, Illinois, that played 2 seasons in the old American Hockey Association league from 1930 to 1932. They were owned by Hockey Hall of Famer James E. Norris.
Lawrence Wilson was a Canadian professional ice hockey centre and coach. He played 152 games in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Black Hawks between 1950 and 1955, winning the Stanley Cup in his first season with Detroit in 1950. Wilson later became the interim head coach of the Red Wings during the 1976–77 season. He also coached in the minor leagues between 1968 and 1979. and 1978–79 seasons.
The Detroit Falcons were a minor professional ice hockey team based in Fraser, Michigan, from 1991 to 1996. For the 1991–92 season, they were known as the Michigan Falcons. They were a member of the Colonial Hockey League, and served as an affiliate team of the Detroit Red Wings and their farm team, the Adirondack Red Wings. After five seasons in Fraser, the franchise relocated to Port Huron, Michigan, where it was renamed the Port Huron Border Cats.
The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are a junior "A" ice hockey team from Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada. They are a part of the British Columbia Hockey League. The Silverbacks returned a BCHL team to Shuswap/Salmon Arm 12 years after the previous team ceased operations, known at various times as the Totems, Blazers, and Tigers between 1982 and 1989.

They played their home games at Olympia Stadium in Detroit, Michigan. The Detroit Auto Club won the inaugural Turner Cup, as playoff champions.
The Detroit Metal Mouldings were a minor league professional ice hockey team, and member of the International Hockey League. The team joined the league in its second season, and played three seasons. The team was known as Detroit Jerry Lynch for the 1948–1949 season.
The Detroit Hettche were a minor league professional ice hockey team based in Detroit, Michigan, and played at the Detroit Olympia. The team was originally known as the Windsor Spitfires and were one of the four founding members of the International Hockey League in 1945. The team was renamed Windsor Hettche Spitfires in 1947, then moved across the river from Windsor, Ontario in 1949. The team played seven seasons total, folding in 1952.
The Indianapolis Capitals were an American Hockey League professional ice hockey team based in Indianapolis, Indiana, from 1939 to 1952. The Capitals were a farm team for the Detroit Red Wings. Indianapolis won the Calder Cup in 1942 and 1950. They played in the Indiana State Fairgrounds Coliseum.
The Virginia Wings were a professional ice hockey team based in Norfolk, Virginia of the greater Hampton Roads area. They were an affiliated farm team of the Detroit Red Wings, and a member of the American Hockey League for three seasons from 1972–73 to 1974–75. The Wings were previously known as the Tidewater Wings for the 1971–72 season. Their cross-state rivals in the AHL were the Richmond Robins.
Warren Godfrey was a Canadian ice hockey defenceman. He played in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings between 1952 and 1968.
The Metro Jets are a non-sanctioned junior ice hockey team that plays their home games at Mount Clemens Ice Arena in Mount Clemens, Michigan. They are members of the Great Lakes Conference in the United States Premier Hockey League's Premier Division. Players are ages 16–20, carry amateur status under Junior A guidelines and hope to earn a spot on higher levels of junior ice hockey in the United States and Canada, Canadian major junior, collegiate, and eventually professional teams. The Jets won the 2002 USA Hockey Junior B Silver Cup national championship.
The 1954 Detroit Red Wings prison game was an exhibition ice hockey game played on February 2, 1954. The exhibition was played outdoors at the Marquette Branch Prison between the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL) and a team put together by the inmates of the prison. It was the first ever outdoor game played by the Detroit Red Wings and by any NHL team. After the first period the Red Wings were winning 18–0, and the scores for the remainder of the match were not kept. Newspaper accounts of the game from the Associated Press stated that the final score was 5–2.
