Devang Desai is an American attorney who has served as the 13th national commissioner of Scouting America since 2025. Prior to his election, Desai held multiple volunteer roles within the organization. He is a partner at the law firm Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP.
Desai earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Miami, and currently serves as president of its alumni association. He later graduated cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law. [1]
In 2004, Desai joined the law firm Gaebe, Mullen, Antonelli & DiMatteo. In 2025, he was hired as a partner in the Miami office of Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP, where he works as a civil trial attorney. Desai was the president of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association and has been named a Florida Super Lawyer every year since 2015. [2]
Desai achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1989. He is also a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow. [2]
Desai has held various roles in Scouting at the unit, council, area, and regional levels. He served as a member of the South Florida Council Executive Board, National Alumni Relations Committee and the Southern Region board. In 2018, Desai was elected to Scouting America’s National Executive Board. [3] He also serves as the vice chair at-large of the National Order of the Arrow Committee. [4]
Desai has received the Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope, and Silver Buffalo awards. He is an Outstanding Eagle Scout and is a recipient of the Order of the Arrow’s Distinguished Service Award. [5]
