Rakesh Roshan is an Indian film producer, director, screenwriter, and actor who works in Hindi films. He is the son of Indian music director Roshan and Indian Bengali singer Ira Roshan. He had appeared in 84 films throughout the 1970s and 1980s till 1989. As an actor, he was mostly known for his supporting roles in big-budget films starring Sanjeev Kumar and Rajesh Khanna in the lead role. Later, he achieved fame for directing films with titles beginning with the letter "K" since 1987. As a filmmaker, his most notable work includes the drama Khudgarz (1987), the revenge drama Khoon Bhari Maang (1988), the comedy-drama Kishen Kanhaiya (1990), the crime thriller Karan Arjun (1995), the romance Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000), the science fiction Koi... Mil Gaya (2003) and the superhero Krrish film series (2006—2013). Rakesh won the Filmfare Award for Best Director for directing the films; Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai and Koi... Mil Gaya.
Jay Om Prakash was an Indian film producer and director. He directed films like Aap Ki Kasam (1974), Aakraman, Aashiq Hoon Baharon Ka, Aakhir Kyon? (1985) with Rajesh Khanna as the lead hero and his other successful directorial ventures included Apnapan (1977), Aasha (1980), Apna Bana Lo (1982), Arpan (1983), and Aadmi Khilona Hai (1993) with Jeetendra as the lead hero. He was presenter for the films Raja Rani and Aan Milo Sajna, both having Rajesh Khanna as the lead hero.

5 Rifles is a 1974 Hindi film produced and directed by I. S. Johar. The film stars Rajesh Khanna's look-alike Rakesh Khanna, Shashi Kapoor's look-alike Shahi Kapoor, and I. S. Johar. Music was given by Kalyanji Anandji. One particular qawwali of note in this film is the track "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom Sharabi", sung by the notable qawwal singer of his times, Janab Aziz Nazan. Another song "Jab se Sarkar ne Nashabandi Tod Di", sung by Kishore Kumar is also a hit semi-qawwali.
Mehbooba is a 1976 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film produced by Mushir-Riaz and directed by Shakti Samanta. The film stars Rajesh Khanna, Hema Malini and Prem Chopra. The story is based on the reincarnation theme. The music is composed by Rahul Dev Burman. The film is noted for an impressive performance by the lead pair and for its haunting melodies such as the solo song "Mere Naina Sawan Bhadon", sung by both Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar, "Chalo Ri" by Lata and the duet song "Parbat Ke Peeche". The plot is based on Gulshan Nanda's novel Sisakate Saaz, and Nanda also wrote the screenplay himself. Upon its release, the movie was a silver jubilee in many territories and did not do well in Mumbai. This film has gained a cult following over the years.

The film is best remembered for the way it was shot in Kashmir, and its different storyline. It was inspired by the Pakistani movie Meherbani, which was produced by Parvez Malik in 1982. In 1992, Ram Awatar Agnihotri wrote that it was in this film that Munim showed the "first sparks" of the dedicated actress she would become.
