Dilawar Malik is a Pakistani television actor and director. He is best known for directing acclaimed project for PTV such as Boota from Toba Tek Singh and Landa Bazar . [1] [2]

Career

Malik began his career in late 1990s when he directed several television series for PTV including Boota from Toba Tek Singh , written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar. He then directed Landa Bazar in 2002 which was also written by Qamar, became an overnight success. [2] [3] The television series he directed mostly are deeply culturally routed and in most of the times set in the Walled City of Lahore. [1] [2] He also directed series for satellite television network including Wafa Kaisi Kahan Ka Ishq (2011), Nadamat (2012) and Laal Ishq (2017) which is the sequel of Landa Bazar. [4] [5]

Boota from Toba Tek Singh is a 1999 Pakistani drama serial. It was aired by Pakistan Television Corporation in Urdu language and had a total of 22 TV episodes. It was written by Khalil-Ur-Rehman Qamar, directed by Dilawar Malik. This drama serial was very popular back in 1999.

Waseem Abbas is a Pakistani television, stage and film actor, screenwriter and director.

Landa Bazar is a 2002 Pakistani television drama serial aired on Prime Entertainment (STN). It is directed by Dilawar Malik and written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, premiered on 17 April 2002. The serial stars Tauqeer Nasir, Ali Zafar, Waseem Abbas, Kashif Mehmood, Babar Ali, Farah Shah, Mehmood Aslam, Jana Malik and Urooj. A sequel of the series, Laal Ishq was aired on A-Plus TV from 2017 to 2018.

The 17th annual PTV National Awards took place on 11 June 2012 and was aired on 30 June 2012. The awards were presented by the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) to honor the best drama programs on Pakistani television of the preceding 12 months. The ceremony was held at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and the hosts were Saba Qamar, Imran Abbas, Nadia Ali, and Mikaal Zulfiqar. The event had the highest number of viewers for the awards show since the first PTV Awards in 1970. The aim of the awards ceremony is to encourage and foster television talent in Pakistan.

Sabir Zafar is a leading poet and lyricist in Pakistan. He has written songs for many Pakistani films, singers such as Nazia Hasan, Sajjad Ali, Ali Azmat and his band Junoon, as well as many successful TV drama serials. He was awarded a Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan in 2010.

Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar is a Pakistani screenwriter, director, Urdu poet, lyricist and occasional actor and producer known for writing such dramas as Pyarey Afzal (2013), Sadqay Tumhare (2014) and most recently the top-rated Meray Paas Tum Ho (2019–2020), as well as the 2019 ISPR-produced film Kaaf Kangana.

Farah Shah is a Pakistani television actress and former model. She made her acting debut with the role of Mehru in PTV World's classic series Boota From Toba Tek Singh (1999). Shah's career spans for more than 20 years. She worked in various hits on Urdu Television including Landa Bazar (2002), Chashman (2006), Khuda Aur Muhabbat (2011), Numm (2013), Gul-e-Rana (2015), Choti Si Zindagi (2016), Toh Dil Ka Kiya Hua (2017), Suno Chanda (2018). Her performance as the antagonist in Mohabbat Subh Ka Sitara Hai (2013) and Abro (2016) earned her a nomination for Hum Award in a negative role category. She has played the role of Naeema in Hum TV's Suno Chanda 2.

Laal Ishq is a Pakistani drama serial aired on A-Plus TV channel. It is directed by Dilawar Malik and written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, premiered on 14 October 2017. It is a sequel to the 2002 drama serial Landa Bazar. Babar Ali, Kashif Mehmood, Waseem Abbas, Tauqeer Nasir reprised their roles from the 2002 series whereas newcomers like Aabi Khan, Arslan Idrees also joined the cast.

Khalid Butt is a Pakistani actor and director. He made his debut in the 1970s and since then he had appeared in a huge number of Urdu and Punjabi films and television series. He started his career as Assistant Director and went on to direct film as well. However, it is television where he found fame and popularity.
