The Dimboola Banner has a publishing history of nearly 135 years. The first issue was published on 10 May 1879. [1] After successful years of publishing a takeover bid was made in 1921, the bid failed and an opposing newspaper, Dimboola Chronicle, went into publication. [2] The Banner remained robust and absorbed the Chronicle in 1930.

Independent Newspapers Limited (INL) was a newspaper publisher in New Zealand. Started as the Wellington Publishing Company in 1906 to publish The Dominion, it began taking over other newspapers in the 1970s and was renamed Independent Newspapers in 1972. It accumulated over 80 publications before selling them all to Fairfax in 2003. INL then merged into Sky Network Television in 2005. INL was part owned by News Limited since early in 1964 when Rupert Murdoch made his first overseas newspaper investment – a 29.57 percent stake in the Wellington Publishing Company. The News Limited holding in INL fluctuated over the years and was just over 49 percent in 1997.

Rainbow is a town in the Shire of Hindmarsh in northwest Victoria, Australia, 400 kilometres (250 mi) from Melbourne. The nearest large towns are Warracknabeal, Dimboola and Nhill, all to the south. At the 2016 census, Rainbow had a population of 683.
The Borung Highway is a 138 kilometre rural highway in western Victoria running in a west–east direction from Dimboola in the west to Charlton in the east. The highway serves little more than connectivity between local communities, and is busiest between the towns of Donald and Charlton. The more notable features along the highway exist in the pastoral scenery, and the surprising appearance of lakes amongst the rolling hills. Buloke trees, are a regular feature along the eastern segment of the road.

Ebenezer Mission, also known as Wimmera mission, Hindmarsh mission and Dimboola mission, was a mission station for Aboriginal people established near Lake Hindmarsh in Victoria, Australia in 1859 by the Moravian Church on the land of the Wotjobaluk. The first missionaries were two Germans, Reverend Friedrich Hagenauer and Reverend F.W. Spieseke. In 1861 the Victorian Colonial Government gazetted 1,897 acres (7.68 km2) as a reserve for the Ebenezer Mission Station. The mission was established a few years after the failure of the Moravian Lake Boga mission in Wemba-Wemba territory.

From January 1889 until 7 December 1902, the paper was known simply as the Prahran Telegraph. From 13 December 1902 the banner head read the Prahran Telegraph, with which is incorporated the St Kilda Advertiser and the Malvern Argus.

It began in July 1889 as a weekly magazine published in Adelaide, South Australia, for the Catholic Archdiocese of Adelaide, and remained a weekly for most of its history. Its banner was subtitled A weekly record of Catholic, Irish and General Intelligence, and later Organ of the Catholic Church in South Australia. The current, non-print website version of the magazine also bears the name Southern Cross.
The South Eastern Times is a newspaper established in Millicent, South Australia in 1891, advertised on its masthead as covering the area which includes Millicent, Robe, Beachport, Tantanoola, Kalangadoo and Southend. After 129 years of publishing, however, the newspaper was discontinued on 21 August 2020. However, in March 2022 the newspaper was relaunched by TBW Today Pty Ltd after an 18-month hiatus.
