Dino Roberto Gardner (born June 18, 1993) is a Canadian soccer player.

Early career

Gardner started his career with five years in the Wallace Emerson House League. [1] He played than in the youth teams of Wexford SC and was part of the local Ontario Under 16 squad. [2]

Professional career

He spent some time in the Canadian Soccer League with the Toronto FC Academy. In 2011, he left Toronto FC [3] and joined fellow CSL team York Region Shooters. [4] [5]

In 2012, he joined NASL club FC Edmonton, signing a one-year contract with an option. [3] where he made two appearances in 2012. At the end of the season, after only playing two games for FC Edmonton, he was released. [6]

He then signed with Atak Sports. [7] In 2014, he returned to his former club the York Region Shooters. [8]

Afterwards, he attended Humber College playing for the men's soccer team. [9]

International career

Gardner played two games for the U-18 and one game for the Canadian U-20. [10] [11]

Personal life

He attended the Humberside Collegiate Institute and played until his graduating 2011 Basketball and Soccer for the Huskies. [10] His parents immigrated in the late 80s from Jamaica, his father, David, was a former Jamaican footballer from Manchester, Jamaica and his mother, Elaine, was a high jumper Elaine, who was originally from St. Mary, Jamaica. [10]

The 2012 season was York Region Shooters's 15th season in the Canadian Soccer League. The season witnessed York Region finish in the top five in the First Division since the 2010 season with the fourth highest defensive record. The club qualified for the playoffs for the 10th consecutive season, and defeated the Windsor Stars in the opening round. Their postseason journey came to a conclusion in the second round after a defeat to the Montreal Impact Academy, while their reserve team shared a similar fate in the Second Division playoffs after a loss to Brampton City United B. The top goalscorers for the season were Jason De Thomasis, Aundrae Rollins, and for the record seventh consecutive time Kadian Lecky each with four goals.

The 2013 season was York Region Shooters's 16th season in the Canadian Soccer League. The club returned to the top four by finishing second in the First Division, and finished in the top four with the best offensive, and defensive record. The organization qualified for the playoffs for the 11th consecutive season, but saw an early departure in the preliminary round. Their reserve side managed to also play in the postseason by finishing seventh in the Second Division. Their playoff journey began with victory in the opening round, but were eliminated in the following round. The club`s top goalscorer was Richard West with 19 goals who managed to end Kadian Lecky`s seven year streak.
