Diocesan Schools Group of Pagadian

Diocesan Schools Group of Pagadian (also referred as the Diocesan Schools of Pagadian) is the network of sixteen schools under the administration and control of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pagadian. The schools are governed by the Bishop of Pagadian, Most Rev. Emmanuel T. Cabajar, C.Ss.R, through the Diocesan Schools Superintendent, Rev. Foelan G. Echavez, M.A. [1]

Prior to the takeover in the 1970s under Bishop Jesus B. Tuquib , Holy Child Academy, Star of the Sea High School, Immaculate Heart Academy, and Saint Columban College were run by the Missionary Society of St. Columban. [2]

Tertiary

Saint Columban College

Columban is the largest among the diocesan schools. Operating in three campuses in Pagadian City, the College offers elementary, secondary, and tertiary education. [3] [4]

Sta. Maria Goretti College

Sta. Maria Goretti has not developed its own undergraduate programs. It offered undergraduate programs while serving as a satellite campus for Saint Columban College. However, due to the preference of students to attend college in cities like Ozamis and Pagadian, it ceased offering the same programs. [5]

Holy Child Academy

Holy Child Academy or "HCA", is the oldest diocesan school. Established in 1940, HCA is also the second oldest school in Pagadian City and the Province of Zamboanga del Sur following the Southern Mindanao Colleges. HCA began as a parochial school, pioneering Catholic education in the Province. [6]

Star of the Sea High School

Star of the Sea is the only private academic institution in the Municipality of Tukuran in Zamboanga del Sur. [7]

Immaculate Heart Academy

Immaculate Heart Academy or "IHA", colloquially pronounced as locally  [iha] , is the largest academic institution in the Municipality of Dumalinao in Zamboanga del Sur. [8]

Student Catholic Action

The Student Catholic Action is a religious student organization in the Philippines. Its affiliation overseas is the International Young Catholic Students (IYCS), also known as International Young Christian Students in Asia that follows the methodology of Cardinal Joseph Cardijn, the see-judge-act methodology. Known to be the first student religious organization in the Philippines and presently known all over the Philippines through local dioceses and catholic schools.

Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Zamboanga

The Archdiocese of Zamboanga is a Catholic archdiocese in the Philippines. Its present jurisdiction includes Zamboanga City, with suffragans in Basilan and Zamboanga Sibugay. It became Mindanao's first diocese in 1910, and was established as the second archdiocese of Mindanao in 1958. Today the archdiocese covers a land area of 1,648 square kilometers and has a population of 442,345, of which 81 per cent are Catholics. The archdiocese includes 27 parishes and one quasi-parish served by 49 diocesan and 18 religious priests. There are also 51 religious sisters working in the archdiocese. Archbishop Romulo T. Dela Cruz has been serving as archbishop since 2014.

Star of the Sea High School or "SSHS" is a parochial high school in the coastal Municipality of Tukuran, Philippines. Previously controlled by the Missionary Society of St. Columban, Star of the Sea is run by Roman Catholic Diocese of Pagadian as with the other Diocesan Schools of Pagadian.

Fernando Capalla

Fernando Robles Capalla is a Roman Catholic archbishop-emeritus of the Archdiocese of Davao. He was born on November 1, 1934 in Leon, Iloilo Province. He was succeeded by Romulo Valles as archbishop of Davao on February 11, 2012.

Roman Catholic Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa

The Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa is located in the Province of Palawan, Philippines. Emmanuel T. Cabajar is a Filipino bishop of the Catholic Church. He was Bishop of Pagadian from 2004 to 2018.
