Diogo Jiahong Chen (born 1996) is a Portuguese table tennis player. Trained since an early age by Sporting CP, at club level he professionally represents the club. [1] [2]

Career

Diogo Chen was born in 1996, in Almada, Portugal. [2] Trained at Sporting CP since 2002 where he was coached by his father, Chen Shi Chao, Diogo Chen is one of the most decorated table tennis players developed by the club. With a successful career in the sport, both at the club and with the Portuguese national table tennis team, Diogo has won several international medals and national titles. He made his senior debut in 2010 at the age of fourteen and joined Sporting CP's first team in 2012. A Portuguese international at the highest level, he became European team champion in 2014, an unprecedented feat for Portugal, having already won other medals in team competitions with the national team. He left Sporting CP in 2017 to play for TTC Frickenhausen in Germany returning to Sporting CP after four seasons with Metz TT in France. [3] A national senior champion for Sporting CP in 2016, [4] 2020 and 2024, [5] he also won Portuguese Cups and Super Cups. [6] [7] [8]

The Academia Cristiano Ronaldo, formerly known as Academia Sporting and also known as Academia de Alcochete, is the name given to the football training facilities of Sporting Clube de Portugal, located outside Alcochete, in Setúbal District, Portugal. It includes the Sporting CP Youth Academy which helped to develop footballers such as Luis Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo from a young age. Both Sporting CP B, the reserve men's football team of Sporting CP's main squad, and the main Sporting CP women's football team, play their home matches at the Estádio Aurélio Pereira in the Academia Cristiano Ronaldo, which holds a seating capacity of 1,200.

The Sporting CP Youth Academy is the youth development division of Sporting CP and part of Academia Cristiano Ronaldo in Alcochete. Sporting CP's youth system, which counted for several decades with Aurélio Pereira among its scouting staff, helped develop footballers such as Paulo Futre, Luís Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mário Moniz Pereira was a teacher, sportsman, athlete, coach, songwriter and sports director. A noted athletics coach for both Sporting Clube de Portugal's athletics department and the Portuguese Athletics Federation where he worked as a technical director, he was also a vice president of Sporting CP. He was the coach of Olympic medalist Carlos Lopes, among other noted athletes. Established by Sporting Portugal, the international athletics meeting Meeting de Atletismo Professor Moniz Pereira is named in his honor.
