Jordan Ratcliffe disappeared from Manchester on 31 August 2008 when he was 16 years old.
Ratcliffe grew up in Moston, Manchester. He was described as being well-known and well-liked and supported Manchester United F.C. He attended the North Manchester school for boys. [1]
Ratcliffe was white, medium build, 5ft 7ins tall with brown eyes and short ginger hair. [1]
On 31 August 2008, at 4.45pm Ratcliffe was dropped off by his aunt, Kimberley Pierce, outside a hostel on Tib Street in the Northern Quarter, Manchester city centre. [2] Pierce instructed Ratcliffe to call her once he was settled, though he never did. This is the last confirmed sighting of Ratcliffe. Ratcliffe was due to visit the Men’s Direct Hostel in Longsight, a homeless shelter, but he never arrived. [3]
Ratcliffe was believed to be carrying a backpack containing a packet of crisps and five pounds cash.[ citation needed ] At the time of his disappearance Ratcliffe was wearing black trainers, black Nike tracksuit bottoms and a grey and black jacket. [1]
As Ratcliffe’s family had not immediately expected to hear from Jordan they did not report him missing until 8 September 2008. [4]
In 2010 a British Transport Police PCSO stopped a young man matching Ratcliffe’s appearance on Waterloo who told the officer that he was from Manchester. [1]
In 2014 police visited Portsmouth following a reported sighting, however no information was found relating to Ratcliffe. [2]
In 2015, computer generated imagery of what Ratcliffe would look like was released to the public. [5]
In April 2017, Ashton Canal was drained as part of the search for Ratcliffe, though no body was discovered. [6]

Andrew Paul Gosden disappeared from Central London on 14 September 2007 when he was aged 14. On that day, Gosden left his home in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, withdrew £200 from his bank account and bought a one-way ticket to London from Doncaster station. He was last seen on CCTV leaving King's Cross station. Despite numerous national appeals for information in the years following his disappearance, Gosden's reason for travelling to London that day, and his subsequent fate, have not been established.

Reynhard Tambos Maruli Tua Sinaga is an Indonesian sex offender who was convicted of 159 sex offences, including 136 rapes of young men committed in Manchester, England, between 2015 and 2017, where he was living as a student. He was found guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting 48 men during this period, 44 of whom he raped, some repeatedly, although the police believe he was offending for years beforehand. Sinaga was prosecuted in four trials between 2018 and 2020 and was given concurrent life sentences with a minimum term of 30 years; raised to 40 years in December 2020 by the Court of Appeal. The Crown Prosecution Service described Sinaga as being the most prolific rapist in British legal history.
