Distorted World is a Russian darkwave/industrial band formed in 2010.
Distorted World was founded in 2010 in Moscow as a side-project by former keyboardist of Anthracitic Moths, Ivan M. A year later, Angelina L. entered the project with her vocals. To date, the band have released the albums Between the Strophes (2012, Artificial Sun) and Shadow Empire (2014, Insane Records), the single "Personal Necropolis" (2013, Artificial Sun) and the web EP Drowning (2016, Insane Records). Its music is gothic-industrial and includes harsh male and clean female vocals, synthesizers, orchestrations, analog basslines and a strong mid-tempo beat.
Cyberpunk is a subgenre of science fiction in a dystopian futuristic setting that tends to focus on a "combination of lowlife and high tech", featuring futuristic technological and scientific achievements, such as artificial intelligence and cyberware, juxtaposed with societal collapse, dystopia or decay. Much of cyberpunk is rooted in the New Wave science fiction movement of the 1960s and 1970s, when writers like Philip K. Dick, Michael Moorcock, Roger Zelazny, John Brunner, J. G. Ballard, Philip José Farmer and Harlan Ellison examined the impact of drug culture, technology, and the sexual revolution while avoiding the utopian tendencies of earlier science fiction.
Electronic body music (EBM) is a genre of electronic music that combines elements of industrial music and synth-punk with elements of dance music. It developed in the early 1980s in Western Europe as an outgrowth of both punk and industrial music cultures. It combines sequenced repetitive basslines, programmed dance music rhythms, and mostly undistorted vocals and commandlike shouts with confrontational or provocative themes.

In stark contrast to the original industrial culture, whose performers and heterogeneous audience were sometimes referred to as "industrialists", the rivethead scene is a coherent youth culture closely linked to a discernible fashion style. Canadian music producer Wolfenstein OS X album End of World Rave (2015) and the Antifur record label are credited with having first defined the hardvapour sound. It is also related to vaportrap.
