DocNetwork, Inc. is a privately held health information technology company based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It supplies electronic health record (EHR) systems and health-management software to youth-serving organizations, including camps, childcare centers, and schools. Its flagship products include CampDoc and SchoolDoc.
DocNetwork was founded in 2009 by Michael Ambrose. [1] It was based on a concept developed in 2002 during his time working in a Michigan camp clinic. Its first platform, CampDoc, launched to address challenges in managing camper medical records. [2]
In 2013, the company expanded into K‑12 and childcare with SchoolDoc. [3]
DocNetwork offers secure digital health records, medication and allergy tracking, illness/injury logging, and reporting. Both CampDoc and SchoolDoc support online registration. [4]
In October 2024, a behavioral-health module was added, enabling mood and risk assessment tools for camps and schools. [5]
In April 2024, DocNetwork's platforms completed SOC 2 Type 1 and HIPAA audits. [6] In September 2024, DocNetwork received a SOC 2 Type 2 certification for CampDoc and SchoolDoc. [7]
DocNetwork collaborates with several prominent youth-serving organizations to enhance health data collection, compliance, and risk management. In 2014, CampDoc was selected as a preferred vendor by the YMCA of the USA, providing electronic health record solutions for summer camps across the country. [8] Many regional YMCA associations continue to utilize the platform to streamline health form collection and medication tracking.
In the scouting community, DocNetwork has partnered with multiple Scouting America councils (formerly Boy Scouts of America) to manage camper health documentation. In 2024, it announced an integration with CouncilWare, a membership platform widely used by scouting councils, to offer a unified solution for registration, health records, and emergency communication. [9]
Regional Girl Scout councils have also adopted CampDoc to simplify health management during overnight camps and troop activities. [10] [11]
Jewish Community Centers (JCCs) have also integrated DocNetwork’s CampDoc platform into their summer and year-round youth programs. Several JCCs use the system to manage immunization records, allergy alerts, and emergency contacts, helping ensure safe participation in day and overnight camps. [12]
Findings from research produced by DocNetwork have been published in multiple academic journals, and have shaped policy for the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Camp Association, and the Alliance for Camp Health.
DocNetwork received Ann Arbor SPARK’s FastTrack Award nine years in a row (2016–2024), recognizing its rapid revenue growth. [13] [14]
Founder Michael Ambrose was included in MM&M’s “Top 40 Healthcare Transformers” in 2017. [15]
By 2024, DocNetwork’s platforms supported more than 1,250 camps and schools across all 50 U.S. states and Canada. [16]
