Dockwise was a Netherlands-based holding company in the marine transport industry. It was acquired by Boskalis in 2013 and was merged into the Boskalis brand name in 2018. [1]

History

Dockwise was formed in September 1993 by the merger of two complementary companies, Wijsmuller Transport (a division of Heerema) and Dock Express Shipping (a division of Royal Vopak), becoming the world's largest seagoing heavy-transport shipping company. The combined company operated from a new headquarters in Meer (Hoogstraten), Belgium. Wijsmuller brought a fleet of seven semisubmersible vessels (Mighty Servant 1, Mighty Servant 2, Mighty Servant 3, and Super Servant 3, 4, 5, and 6) and four dock-type vessels (Dock Express 10, 11, 12, and 20).

In 2001, Offshore Heavy Transport ASA joined the company, adding two heavy-transport vessels, MV Black Marlin and MV Blue Marlin.

In November 2010, to serve the emerging market for ultralarge transports, such as its Dockwise's Type 0 heavy lift vessel, it appointed Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) of Korea as its shipbuilding yard. HHI was scheduled to deliver the vessel during the last quarter of 2012. [2] [3] Type O was renamed the Dockwise Vanguard .

In 2013, Dockwise was acquired by Royal Boskalis Westminster NV, which provides services in dredging, inland infrastructure, offshore energy, towage, and salvage.

Dockwise Shipping BV

Dockwise is an oil and gas service company, providing logistical management of large and heavy structures. Key services are heavy marine transport, offshore transport, and installation and onshore industrial projects. [4] The company transports various heavy marine structures, such as large production and drilling platforms weighing up to 85,000 tons. The company headquarters is in Papendrecht, the Netherlands.

<i>Mighty Servant 2</i> Semisubmersible heavy-lift ship (1983–1999)

Mighty Servant 2 was a 29,000-ton semi-submersible, heavy-lift ship operated by Dockwise. The ship drew worldwide attention in 1988 for transporting the mine-damaged USS Samuel B. Roberts from Dubai to Newport, Rhode Island.

Mighty Servant 3 Semisubmersible heavy-lift ship

Mighty Servant 3 is a 27,000-ton semi-submersible heavy lift ship. Its deck is 40 by 140 m. The vessel was built in 1984 by Oshima Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. in Ōshima, Japan, for Dutch shipping firm Wijsmuller Transport, which merged in 1993 with Dock Express Shipping to become Breda-based offshore heavy lifting group Dockwise Shipping B.V.

Thunder Horse PDQ Offshore oil drilling platform

Thunder Horse PDQ is a BP plc and ExxonMobil joint venture semi-submersible oil platform on location over the Mississippi Canyon Thunder Horse oil field, in deepwater Gulf of Mexico, 150 miles (240 km) southeast of New Orleans, moored in waters of 1,840 metres (6,040 ft). The "PDQ" identifies the platform as being a Production and oil Drilling facility with crew Quarters.

The Gardline Group is a holding company based in Great Yarmouth, England. Before the acquisition by Boskalis in 2017, the group consisted of more than 35 companies focused primarily on service industries. After the acquisition, Gardline sold some of its group companies. The holding company was established in 2009 to bring together a number of existing companies including the original Gardline Shipping, first established in 1969, which continues today, focussed on shipping and other maritime services.

<i>Mafuta</i> (ship) Diamond-mining ship

The Mafuta is a diamond-mining ship owned and operated by De Beers in the western coast of South Africa. Built in 1983 as Dock Express 20 for Dock Express Shipping, the semisubmersible, multirole, heavy-lift vessel was converted to the world's largest cable layer in 1993. In 2005, she was purchased by De Beers, and converted to a subsea diamond-mining ship by A&P Tyne over the course of 11 months. The ship's new name, Peace in Africa, may have implied that it was providing an alternative to blood diamonds. In 2013, still under ownership of De Beers Marine Namibia, the vessel was renamed to MV Mafuta.

BOKA Vanguard Semisubmersible heavy-lift ship

BOKA Vanguard is a semisubmersible heavy-lift ship owned and operated by Dockwise B.V. Dockwise Vanguard is the largest vessel of her type ever built, and is able to carry cargoes up to 110,000 tonnes. Dockwise Vanguard was designed to move offshore oil and gas facilities, but can also carry other ships and act as an offshore dry-dock facility.

MV <i>Karadeniz Powership İrem Sultan</i>

The MV Karadeniz Powership İrem Sultan is a Liberia-flagged Powership, a floating power plant, owned and operated by Karpowership. Built in 1984 by the Fincantieri Marghera Shipyard in Venice, Italy and christened MV Nikolay Markin, she sailed as a barge carrier under various names and flags until in 2014 she was converted into a powership at the Sedef Shipyard in Tuzla, Istanbul, Turkey. She served in Nacala, Mozambique supplying electricity to Mozambique's power grid for land-locked Zambia. Currently, she serves in the Dominican Republic, and is stationed in Santo Domingo.
