Dodo Maheri

Dr. Dodo Mortimer Maheri is a Pakistani political leader and an activist for Sindhi rights. [1] [2] He was spokesperson for Sindh United . but later joined Pakistan peoples party on the basis of doctors Job. [3]

Political career

Maheri was graduated from LMC Jamshoro, trained as a medical doctor. [1] but became involved in politics while a student activist with the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz movement of G. M. Syed.[ citation needed ] At various times, he has spent 13 years imprisoned in Pakistani jails. [1] and ten stipes in the time of General Zia ul Haq Martial Law. In 1996, the Deputy Secretary General of the World Sindhi Congress demanded Maheri's release, calling his imprisonment false. [4] Maheri joined Dr. Qadir Magsi's Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party. After disagreements, he resigned from the party.[ citation needed ]

Sindh National Congress

In the early 2000s, Maheri was head of the Sindh National Council (SNC). [5] In 2006, Maheri and other Sindh leaders established the Sindh National Congress to found a Sindh-based political party, the Sindh United Party. [6] [7] Maheri serves as the party's public information secretary.

Sindhudesh

Sindhudesh is an idea of a separate homeland for Sindhis proposed by Sindhi nationalist parties for the creation of a Sindhi state, which would be either autonomous within Pakistan or independent from it. The movement is based in the Sindh region of Pakistan and was conceived by the Sindhi political leader G. M. Syed after the independence of Bangladesh. He gave a new direction to Sindhi nationalism, founded the Jeay Sindh Tehreek in 1972 and presented the idea of Sindhudesh.

Rasul Bux Palejo Pakistani politician

Rasool Bux Palijo was a Pakistani leftist, marxist leader, scholar and writer. He was a leading human-rights lawyer and the leader of Awami Tahreek. Palijo was the founder and chairman of Awami Tahreek, a progressive and leftist party.

Sindh United Party

The Sindh United Party is a Sindhi nationalist political party which aims to have rights of People of Sindh over their homeland Sindh, Pakistan. It is currently led by Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah, the grandson of veteran national leader G. M. Syed and ex-speaker of Sindh Assembly.

There are separatist movements in Pakistan which are based on ethnic and regional nationalism, including independence movements in Balawaristan, Sindh, and Balochistan. The government of Pakistan has attempted to subdue these separatist movements.

Nazeer Abbasi Communist Leader

Nazeer Abbasi (Sindhi ; Urdu was the youngest member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Pakistan. He was tortured to death on August 9, 1980 in government of Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq while in the custody of FIU Field Intelligence Unit of Pakistan Army. His family has accused former ISI operative Brigadier Imtiaz Ahmed Billa of torturing and killing Abbasi while in his custody, and Billa has admitted this in a TV interview.

G. M. Syed political leader

Ghulam Murtaza Syed, known as G.M Syed was a prominent Sindhi politician, who is known for his scholarly work, passing only constitutional resolution in favor of the establishment of Pakistan from British Sindh Assembly in 1943, proposing ideological groundwork for separate Sindhi identity and laying the foundations of Sindhudesh movement. He is regarded as one of the founding fathers of modern Sindhi nationalism.

Sindhi nationalism also known as Sindhi Nationalist Movement was launched in the 1950s to struggle against One Unit. After Bangladesh became independent in 1971, G.M. Syed gave a new direction to nationalism and founded the Jeay Sindh Mahaz in 1972 and presented the idea of Sindhudesh; a separate homeland for Sindhis. G.M. Syed is considered as the founder of modern Sindhi nationalism.

Zulfiqar Shah Pakistani activist

Zulfiqar Shah is a civil rights activist, journalist and writer of Sindhi origin. He was forced by the Pakistan Army to unlawfully leave the country and close down The Institute for Social Movements, Pakistan in May 2012. He resettled in Nepal, where the UNHCR approved him for refugee status. In Kathmandu, he began freelancing with newspapers and websites on the issues of Pakistan, particularly concerning Sindh and the restive province of Balochistan. He was insurrected in his house in Kathmandu and was given heavy metal poison by the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI with local facilitation; however he was rescued by local doctors. He was forced to leave Nepal, thus he left for Pakistan in December 2013. In Pakistan, he again was persecuted and threatened to be killed. He went India for medical treatment on 11 February 2013, where he was not only denied appropriate health treatment at the behest of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, but was also harassed by high commission officials. He, along his wife Fatima Shah, gave a protest sit-in for 285 days near the Parliament of the Republic of India in defiance of the threats against his life committed by the Pakistan High Commission and its facilitation by the Indian authorities.

Abdul Qadir Patel is a Pakistani politician and represents Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the National Assembly of Pakistan. He became the youngest parliamentarian at the age of 25. He served as chairman Standing Committee on the Interior also as Deputy Speaker in the National Assembly of Pakistan. He elected as MNA in 2018 General elections in Pakistan from newly established NA-248 constituency.

Agha Javed Pathan is a political activist from Sindh, Pakistan, who practices as a doctor in Karachi. He was accused of shoe throwing on Arbab Ghulam Rahim in April 2008. He was accused of hitting Arbab on his first visit to Sindh Assembly after General elections of 2008 to attend the session and taking oath as a member of provincial assembly. Agha Javed was arrested from his home but was released by the court due to lack of evidence. He died on 4 November 2018 due to road accedent in Karachi.

Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz political party in Sindh, Pakistan

The Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz is one of the major separatist political party in Sindh, Pakistan, that believes in the separation of Sindhudesh from Pakistan. Founded in the year 2000, by the veteran Sindhi nationalists belonging to the Sindhudesh movement who left JSQM. The founder and the current Chairman of party Shafi Muhammad Burfat is living in exile in Germany under political asylum.

Banbhore Division Division in Sindh, Pakistan

Banbhore Division, also known as "Thatta Division" or "Bhambore Division", is the sixth administrative division of Sindh as announced by the People's Party's Sindh Government. The name of division is derived from the ancient city of Banbhore. The planned capital of this division is the city of Thatta. In addition to Thatta District itself, plans exist to incorporate the districts of Sujawal and Badin into Banbhore Division; prior to this change, all three of these districts were included in the Hyderabad Division. Sindhi nationalists appreciated this change as they believe it will improve the governance and infrastructure development of region. The Sindh Government also allocated a budget of 11 billion rupees for the development of Banbhore Division.

Sajjad Shar Pakistani politician

Sajjad Shar, is the current Secretary General of banned Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz; A political organization working for freedom of Sindhudesh from occupation of Pakistan and was first president of JSMM's student wing Jeay Sindh Students' Federation (JSSF) & was former youngest president of Jeay Sindh Qoumi Mahaz's student wing. currently state had nominated him in several cases of treason and he is one of the underground leader of JSMM.

Muhammad Ali Kazi also known as Ali Kazi is a Sindhi journalist and news anchor from Pakistan. He was born in the political and media business family of Hyderabad and is youngest son of Muhammad Akber Kazi, former Sindh Provincial Home minister. He started his journalistic career at the age of 21 years. In 1990, along with his elder brother Aslam Akbar Kazi, he launched Daily Kawish as morninger from Hyderabad. In 2002 Kawish group launched the first ever Sindhi language satellite channel KTN and Kazi became its CEO. This media group has now three channels; KTN News, KTN Entertainment and Kashish Music Channel.

Sindhi Americans are Americans or residents of the United States who are of Sindhi descent. They are a subgroup of Pakistani Americans and Indian Americans.
