Dom Pedro Hotels & Golf Collection is a Portugal-based, international brand of hotels and resorts in Portugal and Brazil. Formerly known as Dom Pedro Hotels Group, the brand was renamed following the acquisition of the five golf courses in Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal. [1]

History

Stefano Saviotti, who opened the Dom Pedro Madeira (formerly Dom Pedro Baía) in 1973, then assuming control of the group in 1973 and making their first investments in Algarve tourism, with the opening of Dom Pedro Vilamoura (formerly Dom Pedro Golf) in 1976. [2]

In 2017 Dom Pedro Group re-branded as Dom Pedro Hotels & Golf Collection following the purchase of the Victoria Golf Course, Old Course, Millenium Golf Course, Pinhal Golf Course and Laguna Golf Course [3] [4] in Vilamoura, Algarve from the Oceânico Group. [5] [6]

The golf courses at Vilamoura have hosted many professional golf tournaments. The Old Course hosted the Portuguese Open in 1976, and since 2007, the Victoria Course has hosted the European Tour's Portugal Masters. [7]

Portugal Masters

The Portugal Masters is a European Tour men's professional golf tournament which was played for the first time in October 2007. The prize fund was €3 million, making it the richest golf tournament in the country, and comfortably in the top half of European Tour events. It was jointly staged by the European Tour and the Portuguese Tourist Board (ITP) under an initial three-year agreement. Since 2013 the prize fund has been €2 million. The host course is the Arnold Palmer designed Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura.

The 2011 European Amateur Team Championship took place 5–9 July at Oceânico Golf in Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal on its Victoria Course. It was the 29th men's golf European Amateur Team Championship.

2017 European Ladies Team Championship Golf competition

The 2017 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 11–15 July at Montado Golf Resort in Palmela, Portugal. It was the 34th women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship.
