History

The club was established in 2022 by agent Willie McKay, [3] and were initially placed into the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior Football League for the 2022–23 season, [4] in which they were crowned champions of Division Two. However, they withdrew from this league after one season and instead joined the Central Midlands Alliance for the 2023–24 season. [5]

They received national attention following a request to participate in the Scottish Cup, attempting to exploit a loophole arguing that Doncaster was a part of Scotland as the Treaty of Durham, which gave the city to Scotland, was never officially withdrawn. [6] The club again reached national news in February 2024, after registering former international players Ross McCormack, Charlie Mulgrew and Wes Hoolahan. [7]

Ground

Doncaster City currently groundshares with Armthorpe Welfare. [8]
