Mangalore, officially known as Mangaluru, is a major industrial port city in the Indian state of Karnataka and on the west coast of India. It is located between the Laccadive Sea and the Western Ghats about 352 km (219 mi) west of Bangalore, the state capital, 14 km north of Karnataka–Kerala border and 297 km south of Goa. Mangalore is the state's only city to have all four modes of transport—air, road, rail and sea. The population of the urban agglomeration was 619,664 according to the 2011 national census of India. It is known for being one of the locations of the Indian strategic petroleum reserves.

Malnad is a region in the state of Karnataka, India. Malenadu covers the western and eastern slopes of the Western Ghats mountain range and is roughly 100 kilometers in width. Hassan is one of the 31 districts of Karnataka, India. The district headquarter is Hassan. It was carved out from Mysore district in the year 1866, during the Commissioner's Rule of Mysore (1831-81).

The nearest town is Nelliyadi which is at a distance of approximately 15 km. The ghat is a section of Western ghats through which NH 75 passes is called Shiradi Ghat.
Yedakumari is the place in Sakleshpur taluk in the midst of western ghats in the state of Karnataka, India. There is a railway station here. The place lies en route Mangalore to Bangalore railway line and is the most fascinating stretch of the green route. The gauge conversion from metre gauge to broad gauge of railway track(line) between Hassan and Mangaluru was financed by Hassan Mangalore Rail Development Company (HMRDC) a joint venture of Government of Karnataka and Ministry of Railways. The train running in between these two cities generally halt at Yedakumari for technical reasons. Yedakumari railway station has become resting place for trekkers who are trekking the western ghats following the railway tracks. There are reports of movement of Wild Elephants and other wild animals along this railway track.
Mangalore Central railway station (station code: MAQ) is an NSG–3 category Indian railway station in Palakkad railway division of Southern Railway zone. It is the main railway terminus in the city of Mangalore which lies in the heart of the city. It is one of the major railway stations in Karnataka state and it is the biggest terminal station under Palakkad railway division. There is also another railway station named Mangalore Junction railway station, previously known as Kankanady railway station. The Mangalore region provides the highest freight revenue to the Palakkad division, which sums up to 90 per cent of the total revenue which the Palakkad division generates. Mangalore Central comes under the Southern Railway and also provides connectivity for Konkan Railway and South Western Railway of the Indian Railways. It is one of the 5 central railway stations of India.
Mangalore Junction railway station (formerly Kankanadi railway station is an NSG–3 category Indian railway station in Palakkad railway division of Southern Railway zone. It is an important railway station connecting Konkan, Western Ghat and Malabar railways and is also the gateway to the port city of Mangalore located at Darbar Hill, Padil, Mangalore, 575007. The station is a junction interconnecting Mangalore Central railway station with Kerala in the south, Maharashtra/Goa and Mangalore Sea Port in the north and Bangalore–Chennai in the east. It is the busiest railway junction in the area, as all north- and southbound trains touch Mangalore through this station.
National Highway 75 is one of major National Highway in India. passing through states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. This national highway was earlier known as National Highway 48 (NH-48) before rationalisation of highway numbers in 2010. The highway connects the port city of Mangaluru (Mangalore) in the west to the city of Vellore in the east. National highway 75 is the main road for travellers from Mangaluru going to Bengaluru and Hassan. NH-75 traverses all three geographical regions of Karnataka state namely Karavali, Malenadu and Bayaluseeme.
Mangalore–Hassan–Mysore line is a railway route of both Southern and South Western Railway zone of Indian Railways. This route plays an important role in rail transportation of Mysore division of Karnataka state.
Sakleshpur railway station is a railway station located in Hassan district, Karnataka state, India. It serves Sakleshpur town and nearby villages. Sakleshpura railway station is on Mangaluru to Hassan railway line. Sakleshpur railway station comes under jurisdiction Mysuru division of South Western Railway zone( SWR ) of Indian Railways. The gauge conversion from metre gauge to broad gauge railway track from Hassan to Mangalore was financed by Hassan Mangalore Railway Development Company (HMRDC) a joint venture of Karnataka state government and Indian railways.
