Marian Patalinjug-Caparas, better known as Donna Villa, was a Filipina film producer and actress. [1]

Villa started her career in the entertainment industry as an actress. One of her early acts was the 1977 film Namangka sa Dalawang Ilog which starred Romeo Vasquez, Gloria Romero and Alma Moreno. [1]

Hailing from Lapu-Lapu City, [2] Donna Villa is the wife of film director Carlo J. Caparas with whom she had a son and a daughter. Donna Villa and Caparas were collectively known as the "Golden Couple" and was credited for the "Massacre Era" of Philippine film industry in the early 1990s. With Caparas, she produced the 1990s films The Vizconde Massacre, The Myrna Diones Story (Lord, Have Mercy), and The Lilian Velez Story: Till Death Do Us Part. [3] [4] One of her last films was the 2017 feature Kamandag ng Droga which was influenced from President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs. [1]

Donna Villa died at the age of 57 on January 17, 2017 at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital in Manila. [4] Initial reports state that she died from cancer, although her exact cause of death was undisclosed by her family. [1]

The Panday is a fictional Philippine comics character created by writer Carlo J. Caparas and artist Steve Gan. His stories were first serialized in the comic series Ang Panday in Pilipino Komiks during the late 1970s. The character, whose real name is Flavio, became a Philippine pop culture icon since it was adapted to film in 1980 with Fernando Poe Jr. portraying Flavio and Max Alvarado as his archenemy Lizardo. The film spawned three direct sequels as well as other more loosely connected films and television series including an animated version.

He is also known as a director of numerous massacre films such as Kuratong Baleleng and The Cory Quirino Kidnap: NBI Files.

Kamandag ng Droga is a 2017 Philippine film directed by Carlo J. Caparas. The film tackles how illegal drugs affect the lives of four teenagers.

Arrest: Pat. Rizal Alih – Zamboanga Massacre is a 1989 Filipino action film directed by comic book writer Carlo J. Caparas and written by Caparas and Tony Mortel. It stars Ramon Revilla as the titular patrolman, alongside Vilma Santos, Eddie Garcia, Marianne Dela Riva, Paquito Diaz, Raoul Aragonn, Baldo Marro, Charlie Davao, and Rosemarie Gil. Based on the Camp Cawa-Cawa siege in January 1989, the film was written and shot within the span of two months, receiving criticism from the chief of the Civil Relations Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines who faulted it as "premature" and potentially inappropriate. Zamboanga Massacre was released by The Golden Lions Productions on March 8, 1989. Caparas considers Zamboanga Massacre to be among the films of which he is the proudest.
