Dora Byamukama

Dora Kanabahita Byamukama is a Ugandan politician, lawyer, advocate and legislator. She is an elected member of the East African Legislative Assembly for the period June 2012 through June 2017. [1] She previously served the Mwenge South constituency as a member of the Parliament of Uganda. [2]

She holds two degrees from Makerere University and is considered an international expert in law, social justice and development. [2]

Dora Bloch, née Feinberg, a dual Israeli-British citizen, was a hostage on Air France Flight 139 from Tel Aviv to Paris. The flight was hijacked on 27 June 1976 after a stopover in Athens and rerouted to Entebbe, Uganda. Bloch became ill on the plane and was taken to a hospital in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. She was not rescued with the other hostages during Operation Entebbe, and went missing from the hospital. Her disappearance led to Britain cutting diplomatic ties with Uganda. Her body was discovered in 1979 in a sugar plantation near the capital. In February 2007, declassified British documents confirmed that she was murdered on the order of Ugandan president Idi Amin.

Ingrid Kamateneti Turinawe, commonly known as Ingrid Turinawe, is a female politician who serves as the Chairperson of the Women's League in the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) political party in Uganda. She also serves as the National Political Mobilizer for the FDC political party.

Mary Mugyenyi is a Ugandan politician and a representative in the parliament of East African Legislative Assembly. She is the former member of parliament of Nyabushozi County in Kiruhura District. She is a wife to the former Bank of Uganda executive director Joshua Mugyenyi.

Sheila Kawamara-Mishambi is a Ugandan journalist and executive director of the Eastern African Sub-Regional Support Initiative for the Advancement of Women (EASSI) and former Legislator in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). She originally became known for covering the Rwandan Genocide in 1994 and is now known for her feminist activism and work on human rights and conflict resolution.

Mo-Mamo Karerwa is a Burundian educator, school administrator, and politician. Trained as a teacher, when ethnic violence broke out in 1993, she founded the Magarama II Peace Primary School. The curricula of the school, which taught students from the age two through sixth grade, followed the government mandated courses for half of the day and taught conflict resolution and how to live in peace for the remainder of the school day. She developed a curriculum which taught children's rights and examined Burundian history and culture as a path to a peaceful future. The curriculum was adopted by sixteen schools in the Gitega Province and she was appointed as the primary school teacher representative to the Provincial Education Council in 2003.
