The Dorchester Area Schools Partnership (DASP) is a group of 19 schools in the Dorchester area. [1] It includes 13 first schools, three middle schools, an upper school (The Thomas Hardye School), an independent school and a learning centre.
It was formed in 1992 with a mission to provide the best education for those educated in the Dorchester, Dorset area. [2]
Ofsted praised it for providing "a means for passing information about pupils and for building curriculum continuity which enables schools to share resources effectively".
The DASP Student Voice is a representative body of the students across all DASP schools. Meetings are hosted by different schools every term and a wide range of issues are raised from the environment to sports and music. [3] Most recently, they have been discussing the Student Voice Olympic Dreams Project led by The Thomas Hardye School and their partnership with The Doon School in India. [4] Another big project has been the DASP Olympic Torch Relay. [5]
Dorset is a ceremonial county in South West England. It borders Somerset to the north-west, Wiltshire to the north-east, Hampshire to the east, the English Channel to the south, and Devon to the west. The county town is Dorchester andt he largest settlement is Bournemouth.
The Isle of Portland is a tied island, 6 kilometres (4 mi) long by 2.7 kilometres (1.7 mi) wide, in the English Channel. The southern tip, Portland Bill lies 8 kilometres (5 mi) south of the resort of Weymouth, forming the southernmost point of the county of Dorset, England. A barrier beach called Chesil Beach joins Portland with mainland England. The A354 road passes down the Portland end of the beach and then over the Fleet Lagoon by bridge to the mainland. The population of Portland is 13,417.

The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy is a centre for the sport of sailing on the Isle of Portland, Dorset, on the south coast of England. The academy building is located in Osprey Quay on the northern tip of the island, and the waters of Portland Harbour and Weymouth Bay, adjacent to the site, are the main areas used for sailing. Local, national and international sailing events have been held at the site since it was opened in 2000, and in 2005 WPNSA was selected to host the sailing events at the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Thomas Gainsborough School, formerly Great Cornard Upper School, is a secondary school and sixth form in the village of Great Cornard, part of the town of Sudbury in the English county of Suffolk that educates approximately 1,400 pupils.
Dorset County Council (DCC) was the county council for the county of Dorset in England. It provided the upper tier of local government, below which were district councils, and town and parish councils. The county council had 46 elected councillors and was based at County Hall in Dorchester. The council was abolished on 31 March 2019 as part of structural changes to local government in Dorset.

Shire Hall is an 18th-century courthouse in Dorchester, Dorset. The building was the centre of law, order and government, and served as the county hall for Dorset until 1955. It has been Grade I listed since 1950. In 2018, the hall opened as the Shire Hall Historic Courthouse Museum.
