Dorel Stoica (born 15 December 1978, in Drobeta-Turnu Severin) is a Romanian professional footballer. He manages and plays for Tractorul Cetate.
He started his career with Extensiv Craiova in 2003. A year later, he moved to FC Caracal. In 2005, Stoica was transferred to Universitatea Craiova where he made his breakthrough in Romanian football. Later, he became captain of Universitatea and joined the national team. On 5 January 2010, his move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq was made official. He signed a 6-month contract, with a monthly payment of €30,000.
In June 2010, the former captain of Universitatea Craiova moved back in Romania to play for Steaua București in Liga 1, following coach Victor Pițurcă.
In his first match for Steaua, Dorel scored a goal at the Stadionul Cetate. He equalled the score in the 45th minute after Claudiu Niculescu opened the score in the 8th, Steaua won away with 2–1.
After only two months playing for Steaua he was sold back to Universitatea Craiova, because coach Victor Piţurcă resigned before round three of the new season and the new coach Ilie Dumitrescu no longer needed his services.
Following Universitatea Craiova's disaffiliation, Stoica became a free agent and joined Dinamo București, on a two-year contract, [1] entering the list of footballers who played for the great rivals Steaua and Dinamo. In the summer of 2012, he was released from Dinamo by mutual agreement. [2] He played for giants 10 caps and score 1 goal, in a match against FC Vaslui. The team won the Romanian Cup in May 2012.
In February 2013 he moved to CS Turnu Severin. He was released in summer 2013.
In July 2013, the 34-year-old Stoica returned to Universitatea Craiova, the club where he spent the majority of his career.

The 2010–11 Liga I was the ninety-third season of the top-level football league of Romania. The season commenced on 23 July 2010 and ended on 21 May 2011. A winter break where no matches were played was held between 11 December 2010 and 18 February 2011. A total of eighteen teams participated in the league, where CFR Cluj were the defending champions.
The 2012–13 season was FC Dinamo București's 64th consecutive season in Liga I. In this season, Dinamo played in Liga I, Cupa României and UEFA Europa League. The European place was earned after Dinamo won the Romanian Cup in the season before. Dinamo kept Dario Bonetti as head coach, and won the first trophy of the season, Romanian Supercup, with a win against champions CFR Cluj. But after that the good results failed to appear. Dinamo was eliminated from Europa League, and after 15 rounds, when the team laid on the seventh spot of the standings, Dario Bonetti was sacked and Dorinel Munteanu was brought to replace him. In the Romanian Cup, Dinamo was eliminated by CFR Cluj, after extra-time. At the end of 2012, Munteanu resigned citing his desire to coach abroad. His place was taken by Cornel Ţălnar. Under his spell, Dinamo started well the second half of the season and entered the fight for a European place. But after a round of poor results, Dinamo missed a place for a European competition for the first time since 1998.
The 2012–13 season was the 65th season in the existence of FC Steaua București and the club's 65th consecutive season in the top flight of Romanian football. In addition to the domestic league, Steaua București participated in this season's edition of the Cupa României and the UEFA Europa League.
The 2015–16 FC Dinamo București season is the 67th consecutive edition of competitive football by FC Dinamo București's in Liga I. Dinamo also competed in Cupa României and Cupa Ligii. Dinamo continued its insolvency status and was unable to buy any players, attracting only free agents and players on loan. In September, the Court announced that Dinamo fulfilled its bankruptcy obligations to exit insolvency.
The 2019–20 season was the 71st season in Dinamo București's history, all of them played in the top-flight of Romanian football. Dinamo competed in Liga I and in the Cupa României.
