Douglas Brunt (born August 25, 1971) is an American historian, [1] novelist, podcast host with SiriusXM and former president and CEO of the cybersecurity firm Authentium. [2]

Early life

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Brunt is the son of Jacklyn Bray Brunt and Manly Yates Brunt Jr. [3] Before graduating from Duke University, he attended The Haverford School. [4]

Early career

In 2001, he joined Authentium, Inc., an internet security firm, where he was president and CEO until 2011, when he sold the firm to Commtouch. [5] [6] Previously Brunt worked for Booz Allen Hamilton. He was a member of the Metro New York chapter of the Young Presidents' Organization. [7]

Writing career

Brunt has published three novels. His first nonfiction book, released in 2023, about the disappearance and death of Rudolf Diesel, was called by the Wall Street Journal an "excellent biography."

Broadcasting

In October 2022, Brunt launched the show Dedicated with Doug Brunt in partnership with SiriusXM. Brunt has long-form conversations with authors, and begins each show by mixing the favorite cocktail of his guest. Guests of the show include Jennifer Egan, Amor Towles, Lee Child, James Patterson, Min Jin Lee, David Duchovny, Rick Springfield, Anna Quindlen, Marlon James, Dennis Lehane, Nelson DeMille, Steve Forbes, Diana Gabaldon, Jess Walter, Emily St. John Mandel, and Brad Thor. Personal life

On March 1, 2008, Brunt married television journalist Megyn Kelly, in Huntington, New York. Kelly is a popular podcaster, and a former anchor for Fox News and NBC News. [10] [11] The couple has three children: Son Yates, daughter Yardley, and son Thatcher, born in 2009, 2011, and 2013 respectively. [12] [13] [14] [15] All three children were conceived through in vitro fertilization. [16] [17] He resides in Connecticut with Kelly and their children. [18]

Call Her Daddy is an advice and comedy podcast created by Alexandra Cooper and Sofia Franklyn in 2018. The podcast was formerly owned and distributed by Barstool Sports until June 2021, when it was announced that Cooper had signed an exclusive deal with Spotify worth $60 million. In the late spring of 2020, Cooper and Franklyn were engaged in a publicized dispute with Barstool founder David Portnoy, which resulted in Franklyn leaving the show. Cooper reached an agreement with Barstool and continued hosting the podcast on her own. In August 2024, Cooper signed a deal with Sirius XM to replace Spotify as her distribution and advertising partner.

<i>Marvels Wastelanders</i> Podcast series

Marvel's Wastelanders is an interconnected series of six radio drama podcasts produced by Marvel New Media and SiriusXM in association with Wave Runner Studios and launched in June 2021. The series' podcasts are set in a variation of the Old Man Logan universe, a future timeline where the world's supervillains, led by Doctor Doom, Red Skull, and Baron Zemo, teamed up to kill almost all superheroes and establish a new world order. Those heroes who survived — including Wolverine, Hawkeye, and Black Widow — are largely in hiding or broken shells of their former selves. A series of events, beginning with the return to Earth of Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon on a mission for The Collector, leads to a final assembling of heroes for one last mission.
