Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Battutah, commonly known as Ibn Battuta, was a Maghrebi traveller, explorer and scholar. Over a period of thirty years from 1325 to 1354, Ibn Battuta visited most of North Africa, the Middle East, East Africa, Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, China, the Iberian Peninsula, and West Africa. Near the end of his life, he dictated an account of his journeys, titled A Gift to Those Who Contemplate the Wonders of Cities and the Marvels of Travelling, but commonly known as The Rihla.

The Malay language has a complex system of styles, titles and honorifics which are used extensively in Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia and Singapore.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu is a right-wing political party in Malaysia. It is currently the largest political party in Sarawak. Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu was formed from the combination of three parties in Sarawak; Parti Negara Sarawak, Barisan Rakyat Jati Sarawak and Parti Pesaka Anak Sarawak. The formation of the party was for the purpose of the improvement of the livelihood and protect the rights of the Bumiputera in many fields such as politics, economy and social. Formerly a part of Semenanjung-based coalition Barisan Nasional (BN), following the defeat of BN in the 2018 general election and in the aftermath of a meeting between all Sarawak-based BN coalition parties on 12 June 2018, PBB left the coalition to form a new Sarawak-based coalition, Sarawak Parties Alliance.

Tun Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Rahman bin Ya'kub was a Malaysian politician of Melanau descent from Mukah. He was the third Chief Minister of Sarawak and the fourth Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak. He is also an uncle of Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, since his (Taib's) mother Hajah Hamidah Ya'akub (1916–2006) was his (Rahman's) eldest-born sibling.

Tun Pehin Sri Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Muhammad Salahuddin bin Abang Barieng was a Malaysian politician who served as the third Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak from 1977 to 1981, and as the sixth Yang di-Pertua Negeri from 2001 to 2014. He was the first Yang di-Pertua Negeri to hold the post twice, as well as the oldest elected to the office.

Abdul Taib bin Mahmud is a Malaysian politician who has served as the 7th Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak since March 2014. He served as the 4th Chief Minister of Sarawak for 33 years, from March 1981 to February 2014, making him the longest-serving head of government of a Malaysian state and the longest MP in Sarawak. He served as President of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), which was part of the Barisan Nasional coalition until 2018. He is of ethnic Melanau descent.

MASwings Sdn Bhd is a regional airline operating the Rural Air Services (RAS) in Borneo Malaysia. MASwings is the successors of FlyAsianXpress which operates RAS flight from 2006-2007 and FlyAsianXpress is the successors of RAS flights by Malaysia Airlines from 1965-2006, prior to that Borneo Airways which was the first airlines who operate RAS route from 1953-1965 during British Borneo colonization period.

Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan was a Malaysian politician who served as the first Chief Minister of Sarawak from 1963 to 1966.

Satok Bridge or Jambatan Satok is a suspension bridge in Kuching city, Sarawak, Malaysia. Originally built in 1923–1926, the bridge collapsed in 2004 during a storm. Because the bridge had many memories and was the first bridge to be built in Sarawak, the government decided to rebuilt it in 2017 by choosing a local construction company, Pekerjaan Piasau Konkerit Sdn Bhd (PPK) as the main contractor. It was rebuilt in 2019, but work was suspended in October 2019 due to structural issues: an anchor block had become displaced. After structural correction and redesign, work resumed and the bridge was reopened 15 months later. The opening was officiated by then Chief Minister of Sarawak, Abang Zohari Openg on 21 November 2021.

Ahmad Zaidi Adruce bin Muhammed Noor was the fifth Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak. He was the longest-serving governor of Sarawak, from his inaugural in 1985, to his death in 2000. He was also remembered as the first Sarawakian Bumiputera to receive a MA Degree from a British university.

Tuanku Bujang bin Tuanku Othman was the second Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak from 1969 to 1977.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Upulvan</span> Sri Lankan Buddhist version of Hindu god Vishnu

Upulvan, also known as Vishnu is a guardian deity of Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan Buddhists believe him also as a protector of the Buddhism in the country. The name Upulvan depicts his body colour which means "blue water lily coloured". The cult of Upulvan started during the medieval period in Sri Lanka. According to the local lore and legend, Upulvan is the god whom the Buddha entrusted with the guardianship of Sri Lanka and Buddha Śāsana of the country.

The Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak is the highest state order in the state of Sarawak. It is conferred to those who rendered excellent service towards the development of the state of Sarawak and Malaysia. The Order was established in 1964, a year after Sarawak's independence with the formation of Malaysia. The history of the order can be traced back to 1928, where a similar order named Order of the Star of Sarawak was established by the White Rajahs. However, the revived order has no connection with the previous order, except for the similarity of the name of the order. The motto of the Order is based on the state motto and the current one was adopted in 1988. The design of the order ribbon was changed twice, first in 1973 and again in 1988. The design follows the colors of the Sarawakian flag: blue, red and white, and yellow, black and red. Both the Officer of the Star of Sarawak (JBS) and Officer of the Star of Hornbill Sarawak (JBS) share the same necklace design.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">1987 Ming Court Affair</span>

The Ming Court Affair was a political coup in Sarawak, Malaysia that began in 1983, developed into a full-blown political crisis during 1987 state election, and ended after the Sarawak Malaysian People's Association (PERMAS) was dissolved in 1991. This political crisis mainly involved in the dispute between Abdul Rahman Ya'kub and his nephew Abdul Taib Mahmud over the control of the state government and Sarawak's natural resources.

Tan Sri Dato' Sri (Dr.) Leo Moggie anak Irok is a Malaysian former politician and former President of Sarawak Native People's Party (PBDS); a splinter party of the Sarawak National Party (SNAP) following the 1983 leadership crisis. He is a former chairman of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) from 2004 to 2020.
