Power Rangers
He is probably best known for his work on the former, serving as a writer, director, and supervising producer until leaving the show about halfway through Power Rangers: Turbo in 1997. He went on to eventually find himself at Disney, where he worked on several TV movies (the most well-known of which was Johnny Tsunami ) and, following Disney's acquisition of the Power Rangers franchise, was later selected for another tour of duty with the series as co-executive producer (with Ann Austen) for 2003's Power Rangers: Ninja Storm .
He stayed on for another year (2004's Power Rangers: Dino Thunder ) before leaving the show (along with Austen). Sloan stated prior to his departure he would not be returning to Power Rangers.
Upon his return, he became heavily active within the Power Rangers community, posting on a fan board under the aliases "nsbigcheese", and later "Dino Dude". Sloan's visits frequently resulted in feedback and strong interaction with the community. Since then, many other cast and crew members have followed.
Onscreen appearances
Sloan has also appeared onscreen in Power Rangers. He has guest-starred as Kimberly's Uncle Steve, a reporter, and Kimberly's stepfather too. He also voiced Prince Gasket in Power Rangers: Zeo , although he wasn't credited for the role.
In the original pilot pitch for VR Troopers , then called Cybertron, Sloan played the father of the main character Adam Steele (PR alum Jason David Frank).
Power Rangers is an American entertainment and merchandising franchise built around a live-action superhero television series, based on the Japanese tokusatsu franchise Super Sentai. Produced first by Saban Entertainment, second by BVS Entertainment, later by Saban Brands, and today by SCG Power Rangers and Hasbro, the Power Rangers television series takes much of its footage from the Super Sentai television series, produced by Toei Company. The first Power Rangers entry, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, debuted on August 28, 1993, and helped launch the Fox Kids programming block of the 1990s, during which it catapulted into popular culture along with a line of action figures and other toys by Bandai. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is an American superhero children's television series that premiered on August 28, 1993, on the Fox Kids programming block. It is the first entry of the Power Rangers franchise, and became a 1990's pop culture phenomenon alongside a large line of action figures and other merchandise. The show adapted stock footage from the Japanese TV series Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger (1992-1993), which was the 16th installment of Toei's Super Sentai franchise. The second and third seasons of the show drew elements and stock footage from Gosei Sentai Dairanger and Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, respectively, though the Zyuranger costumes were still used for the lead cast in these two seasons. Only the mecha and the Kiba Ranger costume from Dairanger were featured in the second season, while only the mecha from Kakuranger was featured in the third season; though the Kakuranger costumes were later used for the mini-series Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers. The series was produced by MMPR Productions and distributed by Saban Entertainment. The show's merchandise was produced and distributed by Bandai Entertainment. The series was well-known for its campy tone.
Jason David Frank is an American actor and professional mixed martial artist. He is most notable for his career as Tommy Oliver from the Power Rangers franchise.
Tommy Oliver is a fictional character and an overarching main protagonist of the American live-action television franchise Power Rangers. He is best known as being the original Green Ranger and the first evil Ranger who fought and nearly defeated the original Power Rangers while under the control of Rita Repulsa. He was eventually freed from Rita’s spell and aligned himself with the other Power Rangers. He is a main character in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV series, as well as four of its successive incarnations Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers, Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo, and Power Rangers Dino Thunder. He also appeared in the Power Rangers Wild Force episode "Forever Red", the Power Rangers S.P.D. episode "Wormhole", the Power Rangers Super Megaforce episode "Legendary Battle", and in the Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel episode "Dimensions in Danger". Power Rangers Dino Thunder is an American children's television series, the twelfth season of the Power Rangers franchise. As with all Power Rangers series, it was adapted from a series from the long running Japanese Super Sentai franchise, in this case the 27th entry, Bakuryū Sentai Abaranger. Dino Thunder was also the subtitle of the Korean dub of Abaranger in South Korea and had a similar/identical logo to the American version as well. The series is notable as it features the return of Jason David Frank to a starring role. It was the first Power Rangers series to be aired on Toon Disney as part of Jetix.
VR Troopers is a syndicated live action superhero-adventure television series produced and distributed by Saban Entertainment from 1994 to 1996. The show tried to profit from the fascination with virtual reality in the mid-1990s as well as the success of Saban's other property, Power Rangers. VR Troopers was the first official "sister series" to Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. Much like it, this was an Americanization of a Japanese tokusatsu children's program series by Toei Company. The series is a co-production of Toei and Cyberprod.
