Ghetto Supastar is the debut solo studio album by former Fugees member and American rapper Pras. The album was released on October 27, 1998, through Ruffhouse Records and Columbia Records.
R U Still Down? is the sixth studio album and second double album by American rapper, 2Pac, released on November 25, 1997. It is his second posthumous release and the first to be released without his creative input and contains previously unreleased material from the time period of his albums Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z., Thug Life: Volume 1 and Me Against the World. Throughout the album, 2Pac airs his views on life from a time before he became involved in the controversial East Coast–West Coast rivalry. His lyrics foreshadow his death in songs like "Open Fire", "Thug Style" and "Only Fear of Death." The album spawned two hits, "Do for Love" and "I Wonder If Heaven Got a Ghetto", of which "Do for Love" was certified Gold by the RIAA. R U Still Down? sold 549,000 copies in its first week, and topped the R&B charts in the United States for three weeks.
"Ghetto" is the second single from American singer-songwriter Akon's debut studio album, Trouble. The single was released on December 21, 2004, exclusively in Latin America and certain countries of Europe. The single peaked at #92 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Akon describes the meaning of the song, reflected in the song's lyrics, as "a description of the cycle of poverty experienced by those living in poor, inner-city areas". Additionally, it describes the physical and psychological oppression with which these residents must deal on a regular basis.

Steady Mobb'n departed No Limit thereafter. Most critics blame the albums lackluster sales and weak delivery on the account of DJ Daryl not being present on the album. Formed in 1993, the Ghetto Mafia signed to local hip hop label, Ichiban Records, who then released their debut album, Draw the Line on April 26, 1994. The group then released 1995's Full Blooded Niggaz through Triad Records before joining Fully Loaded Records in 1996. With Fully Loaded, Ghetto Mafia released 1997's Straight from the Dec and their most successful album to date, 1998's On da Grind, which peaked at 169 on the Billboard 200. After a seven-year hiatus, they released Da Return... of Ghetto Mafia in 2005. In 2016, Ghetto Mafia returned with a new single, "Elephant in the Room".
Full Blooded Niggaz is the second album by the Ghetto Mafia. It was released on October 10, 1995 through Triad Records and was produced by POR Productions, a three-man production team consisting of Carl Dorsey, Edgar Hinton and Lance McLendon who also wrote most of the songs on the album. Full Blooded Niggaz peaked at 65 on the Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
Straight from the Dec is the third studio album by the Ghetto Mafia. It was released on March 11, 1997 through Fully Loaded Records and was produced by the Ghetto Mafia themselves. Straight from the Dec found more success then the group's previous two album, having peaked at 49 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and 17 on the Top Heatseekers. The album also spawned the Ghetto Mafia's first charting single "I Can Feel It" which made it to both the R&B and rap charts.

The single, "In Decatur", managed to make it to the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop singles chart.
Trap is a subgenre of hip hop music that originated in the Southern United States, with lyrical references to trap starting in 1991 but the modern sound of trap appearing in 1999. The genre gets its name from the Atlanta slang term "trap house", a house used exclusively to sell drugs. Trap music is known for its simple, rhythmic, minimalistic productions that uses synthesized drums, and is characterized by complex hi-hat patterns, snare drums, bass drums, some tuned with a long decay to emit a bass frequency, and lyrical content that often focuses on drug use and urban violence.
