André Gerardus Hazes was a Dutch singer and actor. As an accomplished levenslied singer, Hazes recorded 36 studio and live albums, and 55 singles prior to his death in 2004. His music is still well-known in the Netherlands and Flanders, known for sentimental and simple lyrics.

Schmidt award for best theatrical song for "Stoute Heleen", a crude pastiche of van Royen's depictions of her own sexuality. "Bloed, zweet en tranen" is a song by André Hazes. It is the fifth track of his 2002 album Strijdlustig, it was released as the b-side to his single "Ik hou van jou" that same year. The song reached the Top 100 in the Netherlands, peaking at number 17. It is one of André Hazes's most popular songs. It was to be the last single that André Hazes would release under his own name, with the following single being his duet with Johnny Logan.
Bloed, zweet & tranen, also known as Blood, Sweat & Tears, is a Dutch biographical film about the late Dutch singer André Hazes. The movie, named after Hazes' song Bloed, zweet en tranen, was directed by Diederick Koopal and released in 2015. Starring actors are Martijn Fischer, Hadewych Minis, Fedja van Huêt, and Matheu Hinzen.

He served as second Deputy Prime Minister of the Netherlands and Minister of Foreign Affairs in the fourth Rutte cabinet between 10 January 2022 and 1 September 2023. The Netherlands participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 which was held on 24 November 2019 in Gliwice, Poland. Matheu was selected with his song "Dans met Jou". Their entry was selected through the national selection Junior Songfestival 2019.

He currently holds the record for second fastest knockout in the heavyweight division against Allen Crowder at UFC Fight Night 154. In kickboxing, he is a former WLF Super Heavyweight Tournament Champion and a Superkombat World Grand Prix I 2013 Runner-Up. As of May 16, 2023, he is #12 in the UFC heavyweight rankings.
