Duchess Says is a Canadian punk rock band from Montreal. [1] [2] The band describes its genre as "moog rock", and is known for its large, loud and theatrical live shows. [3] [4]
Duchess Says was formed in late 2003. [4] The band consists of vocalist and guitarist Annie-Claude Deschênes, [3] keyboardist and guitarist Ismael Tremblay, guitarist and bassist Philippe Clément and percussionist Simon "Simon Says" Besre. [1]
After releasing a single and an EP in 2006, Duchess Says released their first album, Anthologie des 3 Perchoirs. in 2008. [5] They have been playlisted on CBC Radio 3 and Bande à part, been featured in the soundtrack from the film The Tracey Fragments , the soundtrack from the film Shadow in the Cloud , and have performed at Eurockéennes and the Osheaga Festival. In 2009, they supported Yeah Yeah Yeahs on dates during their winter tour of venues in the UK.
In 2011 the band's album In a Fung Day T! was released. [3] The album appeared on the !earshot Campus and Community National Top 50 Albums chart in January, 2012, [6] and that year the band toured in the United States. [4] In 2015 the band performed at the Festival of Emerging Music in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec.
In 2016, Duchess Says released the album Science Nouvelles, and toured in support of the album. [7] [8]
Deschênes released Les Manières de table, her debut solo album, in 2024. [9] It was a longlisted nominee for the 2024 Polaris Music Prize. [10]

Yamantaka // Sonic Titan is a Canadian experimental music and performance art collective. Formed in Montreal, Quebec and currently operating in Toronto, Ontario, the group was founded by Ruby Kato Attwood and Alaska B – former members of the defunct Montreal noise rock band Lesbian Fight Club – and now features Ange Loft on vocals and percussion, Joanna Delos Reyes on vocals and guitar, Brendan Swanson on keyboards, Hiroki Tanaka on lead guitar, Brandon Lim on bass guitar, and Aylwin Lo on projections and lights. Ruby Kato Attwood left the band at the end of 2014. Past members have included John Ancheta on bass and acoustic guitar, Walter Scott, Shub Roy, Alana Ruth, and Adrienne Mak.

It was formed in mid-2007 when vocalist and guitarist Ben Shemie and guitarist and bassist Joe Yarmush got together to make some beats which quickly evolved into a few songs.
