Dumbarton is one of the six wards used to elect members of the West Dunbartonshire Council. It elects four Councillors.
The ward covers most of the town of Dumbarton, including the outlying villages of Milton and Bowling on the Firth of Clyde, but excepting northern parts of Dumbarton such as Bellsmyre, Broadmeadow and Lomondgate which are assigned to the Leven ward. [2]

West Dunbartonshire is a county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election and covers the same area as the county of West Dunbartonshire.
The 2017 West Dunbartonshire Council election was held on Thursday 4 May 2017, on the same day as the 31 other local authorities in Scotland. The election used the six wards created under the Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004, with 22 Councillors being elected. Each ward will elect either 3 or 4 members, using the STV electoral system.
Linlithgow is one of the nine wards used to elect members of the West Lothian Council. It elects four Councillors. In 2019, the population of the ward was 16,499.
Broxburn, Uphall and Winchburgh is one of the nine wards used to elect members of the West Lothian Council. It elects four Councillors.
Livingston South is one of the nine wards used to elect members of the West Lothian Council. It elects four Councillors. In April 2020, Peter Johnson retired from West Lothian Council triggering a by-election on the 11th March 2021 where Maria MacAulay (SNP) was duly elected.

Its territory covers the small town of Carluke and the surrounding rural area which includes the villages of Braidwood, Crossford and Law – these boundaries were unaffected by a 2017 national review. In 2019, the ward had a population of 19,124.
Rutherglen Central and North is one of the twenty wards used to elect members of the South Lanarkshire Council. Created in 2007, it elects three councillors under the Single Transferable Vote system.
Cambuslang West is one of the twenty wards used to elect members of the South Lanarkshire Council. Created in 2007, it elects three councillors.
Milngavie is one of the seven wards used to elect members of the East Dunbartonshire Council. It elects three Councillors. Its territory consists of the entire burgh of Milngavie, and a sparsely populated hinterland to its north-west, bordering the West Dunbartonshire and Stirling local authority areas. In 2020, the ward had a population of 13,572.
Bishopbriggs South is one of the seven wards used to elect members of the East Dunbartonshire Council. Created in 2007, it elects three Councillors. As its name suggests, its territory consists of the southern part of the burgh of Bishopbriggs, bordering the city of Glasgow further south; following a 2017 boundary review, some streets in the west of the town were added from the Bishopbriggs North and Torrance ward, but the number of representatives did not change. In 2020, the ward had a population of 15,868.
Kirkintilloch East and North and Twechar is one of the seven wards used to elect members of the East Dunbartonshire Council. It elects three Councillors. The current entity was technically created in 2017 following a boundary review, but has largely the same boundaries as the 2007 Kirkintilloch East and Twechar ward, which as its name suggests encompassed the eastern parts of Kirkintilloch and the separate village of Twechar further east, up to the boundary with Kilsyth and Cumbernauld in North Lanarkshire.
