Dustin Burleson is an American orthodontist and consultant. [1] [2] [3]

Career

Burleson started Burleson Orthodontics and Pediactric Dentistry (BOPD) in 2006. [4] He also runs a private consulting and coaching company, Burleson Seminars. As an Assistant Clinical Professor, he teaches at his alma mater, UMKC, [5] and at The Children's Mercy Hospital. [6]

Burleson uses his specialty training to help patients with cleft palate at Saint Luke's Hospital. Dr. Burleson is the Director of The Leo H. Rheam Foundation for Cleft and Craniofacial Orthodontics. [7] He also supports Smiles Change Lives and is the nation’s largest provider of free orthodontic care through this community orthodontic program. [8] [9] [10] Burleson is a Founding Fellow of the Institute of Coaching at McLean Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School. [11]

In January 2022, Rock Dental Brands acquired Burleson Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry locations in Kansas City and Raymore, Missouri. [12] [13] [14]

Background

A graduate of Wheelersburg High School in Wheelersburg, Ohio, Burleson spent his early teenage years working in his father’s dental office, an experience that led him to pursue his own career in the dental field. [37] At the University of Missouri-Kansas City, he studied Biology and earned both his Bachelor of Arts and D.D.S degrees. Though a unique six-year program, he was able to complete all of his specialty training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at UMKC as well. He holds a Master of Business Administration from New Charter University.

He resides in Kansas City, Missouri with his family.

Edward Hartley Angle was an American dentist, widely regarded as "the father of American orthodontics". He was trained as a dentist, but made orthodontics his speciality and dedicated his life to standardizing the teaching and practice of orthodontics. He founded the Angle School of Orthodontia in 1899 in St. Louis and schools in other regions of the United States. As the originator of the profession, Angle founded three orthodontic schools between 1905 and 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri, New London, Connecticut and Pasadena, California. These exclusive institutions provided the opportunity for several pioneering American orthodontists to receive their training.

James A. McNamara Jr. is an American-trained, board certified, orthodontist. He is known for his development of McNamara analysis, one of the more popular methods of cephalometric analysis in cephalometry.

All Smiles Dental Centers (ADSC) was an American chain of dental clinics, with its headquarters in Farmers Branch, Texas in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, The chain operates dental clinics in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and in Greater Houston. The company was the management service organization providing business support services to All Smiles Dental Professionals, P.C. The patients mostly consisted of children in low-income Hispanic communities.

Georgia School of Orthodontics (GSO) is an orthodontic school located in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. It was established in 2016 and offers a 36 month Advanced Specialty Education Program in Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics. In response to GSO's growth, the school opened another location in Georgia in 2017.
