The Dutch National Track Championships – Women's omnium is the Dutch national championship omnium event held annually at the Dutch National Track Championships. The event was first introduced in 1977. After 1989 the event wasn't held for 21 years. Because the omnium discipline was introduced at the 2012 Summer Olympics, the Dutch national omnium championship was recontinued in 2010.

An omnium is a multiple race event in track cycling. Historically the omnium has had a variety of formats. In recent years, road racing has also adopted the term to describe multi-day races that feature the three primary road race events.

The Dutch National Track Championships are the set of Dutch national championship events for the various disciplines and distances in track cycling. They are organized by the KNWU. There are competitions of various track cycling disciplines in age, gender and disability categories. Women's events are shorter than men's. Championships are open to all licensed riders.

The European Track Cycling Championships are a set of elite level competition events held annually for the various disciplines and distances in track cycling, exclusively for European cyclists, and regulated by the European Cycling Union (UEC). They were first held in their current format in 2010, when elite level cyclists competed for the first time following an overhaul of European track cycling.

2008 UEC European Track Championships

The 2008 European Track Championships took place in Pruszków, Poland from 3 September to 7 September 2008. They were the annual European championship for track cycling for junior and under 23 riders. Events were also held at elite level in the women's omnium discipline. A men's omnium European Championship was held in Alkmaar, the Netherlands at 18 October 2008.

The Men's omnium at the European Track Championships was first competed in 2010. Prior to 2010, there were two elite omniums held annually: an endurance omnium and a sprint omnium.

Jan Derksen Dutch cyclist

Jan Derksen was a Dutch professional cyclist. He was world professional track sprint champion in 1946 and 1957. He was the only rider to win a gold medal at Milan, Italy, in 1939 – in the world amateur sprint – before the championship was abandoned at the outbreak of the Second World War. Derksen became a riders' agent and race promoter after retiring from racing and lived in a house on the outskirts of Amsterdam, named after the Ordrup track in Denmark where won the professional omnium – akin to a pentathlon in athletics – 10 times.

The Women's Omnium was the only elite women's events at the 2008 European Track Championships held in Pruszków, Poland and took place at 3 September. The omnium consisted of four events: elimination race, scratch race, 3000m individual pursuit and a points race. Seventeen cyclists participated in the women's omnium.

Yumi Kajihara

Yumi Kajihara is a Japanese female road racing and track cyclist. As a junior, she competed on the road in the junior events at the 2015 UCI Road World Championships and 2014 UCI Road World Championships. She won the gold medal in the scratch and the silver medal in the team pursuit at the 2016 Asian Cycling Championships.
