Coleridge Gardner Tillman, who goes by the stage name Sebastian Kole, is an American singer-songwriter and record producer from Birmingham, Alabama. He is currently signed to EP Entertainment and Motown Records. Prior to his work with Motown, Sebastian was known for co-writing on a Jennifer Lopez and Flo Rida single titled "Goin' In". Since signing with EP Entertainment/Motown in 2012, Sebastian worked with label-mate Alessia Cara, co-writing and co-producing her album, including her debut single "Here".

It was released on April 27, 2017, through Visionary Music Group and Def Jam Recordings, as the third single from Logic's third studio album, Everybody. The song's title is the previous phone number for the American National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL), now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Although the lifeline later changed its phone number to 988 in July 2022, the original number could still be used and was intended to always remain active. It was written by the three recording artists alongside Dylan Wiggins, Drew Taggart of The Chainsmokers, and 6ix, who produced the track with Logic. "1-800-273-8255" eventually peaked at number 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and received nominations for Song of the Year and Best Music Video at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.

Critics named Cara and her sound as "the big-sister of pop", and praised Cara's songwriting ability. The album would eventually win a Juno Award for Album of the Year at the 2020 Juno Awards, and would also receive accolades on other categories that same year.
