ETAPA (Empresa de Telecomunicaciones, Agua Potable, Alcantarillado y saneamiento de Cuenca ) is a public utilities company owned and operated by the city of Cuenca, Ecuador. The company provides landline telephone, internet, water, and sewage services within the canton of Cuenca. [1]

In 2003, the CIA World Factbook reported approximately 1.263 billion main telephone lines worldwide. China had more than any other country at 350 million and the United States was second with 268 million. The United Kingdom had 23.7 million residential fixed home phones.

Etapatelecom

Etapatelecom was spun off as a private company from ETAPA in 2002 so that it could sell telecommunications services across Ecuador, not just in Cuenca. The company expanded into other cities such as Quito and Guayaquil; [2] however, the business plan was unsuccessful and by 2009 Etapatelecom had generated USD 10 million dollars in losses. The company was merged back into ETAPA in 2010 where it now operates as a business unit. [3]

Estadio Banco del Pacífico Capwell is a multi-purpose stadium in Guayaquil, Ecuador. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Emelec. It was announced right after Emelec won the 2013 Ecuador Serie A title that Stadium George Capwell would be completely remodeled to hold a capacity of 40,000 fans. The remodeling is supposed to begin in June 2014 and ended in December 2016.

The 2012 Campeonato Ecuatoriano de Fútbol de la Serie A was the 54th season of the Serie A, Ecuador's premier football league. The season began on February 3 and ended in December 2012. Deportivo Quito was the defending champion. They were succeeded by Barcelona, who won their record-breaking 14th title.

The Ecuadorian women's football championship is the national competition for women's football teams in Ecuador. The competition is organised by the Ecuadorian Football Federation. Until 2013, the tournament was played by divisional selections and not clubs. After a restructuring in 2013 clubs contest the league title. The winner qualifies to the Copa Libertadores Femenina.

The South American Race Walking Championships is a biennial race walking competition organized by CONSUDATLE for athletes representing the countries of its member associations. The event was established in 1989 as South American Race Walking Cup, and was occurring annually at first. The 2001 event was held in conjunction with the Pan American Race Walking Cup. ENAMI is an Ecuadorian state-owned mining company based in Quito. It was created in 2010 by a decree signed by the President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa.

Oswaldo Moreno Heredia was an Ecuadorian painter. His paintings are in collections in the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, including El Museo De Arte Moderno del Banco Central, El Museo De La Casa De Cultura, and in the Alianza Francesa Galleries. Moreno was featured in "El Grupo Van - 30 Anos Despues" with eight other Ecuadorian painters. Moreno created around ten thousand works of art located around the world. He died at the age of 82 in Quito, Ecuador of diabetes.

Sharon la Hechicera Ecuadorian singer

Sharon la Hechicera, also known by the nicknames La Reina de la Tecnocumbia, La Diva, and La Diva Criolla, was an Ecuadorian television actress and presenter, music producer, advertising and public relations consultant, lingerie designer, and singer known for her promotion and performing of the tecnocumbia genre. She was one of the most popular celebrities in Ecuador during her lifetime.

The 2018 Campeonato Ecuatoriano de Fútbol Serie A was the 60th season of the Serie A, Ecuador's top tier football league. Emelec were the defending champions. First stage winners LDU Quito defeated second stage winners and defending champions Emelec 2–1 on aggregate in the final to win their eleventh domestic title.
