Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger (born 1964) is an Austrian academic. She was the first female professor for Gender and Diversity in Organizations of Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU). [1]

Early life

Hanappi-Egger was educated at Vienna University of Technology, where she received a PhD in computer science. While working towards her PhD, she studied in Canada and Sweden. After graduating, she joined Vienna University of Technology. [2]

Career

From 2002 to 2004, Hanappi-Egger was a guest lecturer at Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU). She became a professor in 2014, when she took over the Institute for Gender and Diversity in Organizations. From 2006 to 2009, she served as the Chair of the Senate at WU, and was also a member of the board at Graz University of Technology from 2008 to 2013. In addition, she also chaired the Institute of Management at WU from 2012 to 2014. [3]

Hanappi-Egger was a guest lecturer at internationally renowned research institutions, such as the London School of Economics and Business, as well as McGill University. She published more than 350 articles on Gender and Diversity, as well as Diversity Management and Organizational Management. [4]

She was elected first female principal of WU in January 2015 succeeding Christoph Badelt. [5] In June 2018 she has been re-elected for a second consecutive period [6]

Personal life

Hanappi-Egger is married to Gerhard Hanappi, a professor at Vienna University of Technology. They have one child. [7]

Judy Wajcman,, is the Anthony Giddens Professor of Sociology at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is a Visiting Professor at the Oxford Internet Institute. Her scholarly interests encompass the sociology of work, science and technology studies, gender theory, and organizational analysis. Her work has been translated into French, German, Greek, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish. Prior to joining the LSE in 2009, she was a Professor of Sociology in the Research School of Social Sciences at the Australian National University. She was the first woman fellow at St. John's College, Cambridge. In 1997 she was elected Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia.

Tina Ambos is full professor of strategy at the University of Geneva, where she also is the Director of the Institute of Management.

Sonja Hammerschmid

Sonja Hammerschmid is an Austrian molecular biologist and politician. She was Rector of the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna from 2010 to 2016 and minister of education in the Kern government from 2016 to 2017. Since 2017, Hammerschmid has been a member of the Austrian National Council. Hammerschmid is a member of the Social Democratic Party.

Women are under-represented in the economics profession worldwide. This has wide social and material implications, as economists work in banks and government, and have a direct role in policy making. Studies have shown that decisions made and executed by diverse teams delivered 60% better results. While many other fields, including STEM fields, have seen growth in the share of professors and students who are women, economics has stagnated with little improvement at any level in the last 15 years.

Hardy (Gerhard) Hanappi, son of Gerhard Hanappi, is a European political economist. He is ad personam Jean Monnet Chair for Political Economy of European Integration and professor at the Institute of Statistics and Mathematical Methods in Economics of the TU Wien.

Mieke Verloo Dutch political scientist

Mieke Verloo is a Dutch political scientist and a professor of comparative politics and inequality issues at Radboud University in the Netherlands, and non-residential permanent fellow at the IWM, Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna. She is considered one of the leading directors of scientific research on feminist politics and opposition to gender+ equality in Europe. In 2015 she won the ECPG Gender and Politics Career Achievement Award.
