Dr. Edgar D. Coolidge (July 15, 1881 - Aug. 12, 1967) was an American dentist and endodontist.
Born on a farm in Galesburg, Illinois, he attended Knox College from 1901 to 1903 and received a DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree from the Chicago College of Dental Surgery, which later became the Loyola University Chicago Dental School. He earned a Master of Science degree from Northwestern University in 1930.
Coolidge was Professor and Head of Materia Medica and Therapeutics at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry from 1913 to 1923, and was on the faculty of the Loyola Dental School from 1927 to 1959. He also had a private dental practice in endodontics and periodontics. Coolidge was one of the initiators in organizing the American Association of Endodontists, and was a charter member and served on the AAE’s first Constitution and By-Laws Committee. The AAE’s highest honor is called the Edgar D. Coolidge Award and is given to an individual who has displayed exemplary dedication to dentistry and to endodontics. [1] He served as President of the Chicago Dental Society, [2] Illinois State Dental Society, Odontographic Society of Chicago, American Academy of Periodontology, and Xi Psi Phi fraternity, [3] and was an author of many publications and contributor to many textbooks.

Dr. Charles G. Maurice (1911–1997) was an American dentist and academic. In a teaching career that spanned 37 years at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, he began in the old Department of Applied Materia Medica and Therapeutics and ended up establishing the Department of Endodontics, becoming its first head in 1967. This was not his first pioneering effort in endodontics as he was one of the founders of the American Association of Endodontists in 1943. He also was a diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, and was a contributor to the textbook Endodontology. The Charles G. Maurice Endodontic Resource Facility at the UIC College of Dentistry was dedicated in 1990, and the college's Charles G. Maurice Fund supports postgraduate education, clinical care, and research in endodontics; general Department of Endodontics needs; and the Maurice Lecture.

He is an elected fellow of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and holds the honorary rank of 'Brigadier' in the Army Dental Corps. He is a recipient of B. C. Roy Award, the highest Indian award in the medical category. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honor of the Padma Shri in 1992 and followed it up with the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 2005, for his contributions to medicine, making him the first dentist to receive both the honors.

He received his DDS from Gama Filho University, Rio de Janeiro in 1989, and his endodontic certificate from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 1991. In 1996, he received his master's degree in microbiology and immunology from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He concluded his PhD in microbiology and immunology in 1998 at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Since 2002, Siqueira is the chairman of endodontics, director of the postgraduate program in endodontics and head of the molecular microbiology laboratory at Estácio de Sá University, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Wilmore B. Leonard was an American college professor, U.S. Army Air Corps/U.S. Air Force officer and combat fighter pilot with the 332nd Fighter Group. One of 1,007 documented Tuskegee Airmen Pilots, Leonard was a member of Tuskegee's sixth cadet graduating class and one of the first 50 African American combat fighter pilots. He served during World War II, retiring from the military in 1946. He subsequently attended the Howard University School of Dentistry, and became a dentistry professor, holding the position for 25 years.
