Edgar George David was a college football player. [1]
David was a prominent baseball, basketball and football player for the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe University. He was captain of the football team in 1922, [2] a year in which he was selected All-Southern. [3] He was inducted into the Oglethorpe Athletic Hall of Fame. [4] The Yamacraw, the school's yearbook, remarked his coach said "that no finer leader ever graced a southern gridiron than Ed David."

As a college football quarterback, Kuhn led Vanderbilt to three consecutive Southern titles in 1921, 1922, and 1923 – the most-recent conference titles for Vanderbilt football. In 1922, Vanderbilt tied Michigan at the dedication of Dudley Field, and Kuhn was picked for Walter Camp's list of names worthy of mention and Billy Evans' All-America "National Honor Roll."

Virgil George "Blood" Miller was a college football player and track and field athlete for the Sewanee Tigers of Sewanee: The University of the South. He later went to Tampa. Miller was selected All-Southern in 1922 by Marvin McCarthy, sporting editor of the Birmingham Age-Herald, a year in which he drew praise for his work against Oglethorpe. He won the Porter Cup as Sewanee's best all-around athlete.

The 1920 Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels football team represented Oglethorpe University in the sport of American football during the 1920 college football season. This was one of the first of Oglethorpe's seasons with a grown up program; they joined the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association after the season. Oglethorpe proved itself against some of the toughest opponents. Despite a loss to Georgia Tech, Oglethorpe was still able to boast that it was the only team to hold Tech from scoring on their touchdown line and were able to make a stop. Other impressive games were wins over Florida and Mercer.

Led by eighth-year head coach Billy Laval, the Purple Hurricane compiled an overall record of 8–3 with a mark of 3–0 in conference play, winning the SIAA title. The team upset Florida.
