Eduardo Hochschild (born 1963/64) is a Peruvian businessman. He is the chairman of Hochschild Mining and Cementos Pacasmayo. [1]

Biography

Hochschild is the son of Ana Beeck Navarro and Luis Hochschild Plaut. [2] His father founded Cementos Pacasmayo; [2] co-founded the Tecnologia Superior University (TECSUP  [ es ]) with his brother-in-law, Rodolfo Beeck Navarro; [2] and is a cousin of Hernán Hochschild  [ es ], president of Sociedad Nacional de Minería  [ es ]. [3] His great-uncle, Moritz Hochschild, founded Hochschild Mining; [1] and his great-uncle, Sali Hochschild, founded Compania Minera y Comercial Sali Hochschild S.A. [4] In 1987, he graduated from the Tufts University School of Engineering with a degree in Engineering Physics. He then went to work for the family business as a mine safety assistant. [1] In 1998, his father was killed in a kidnapping attempt [5] and Eduardo assumed leadership of both companies. [2]

Personal life

He is married to attorney Mariana Correa Sabogal, [6] daughter of Gustavo Correa Miller and Dolores Sabogal Morzán; and the niece of former Peruvian first lady Violeta Correa  [ es ] and former Foreign Minister of Peru, Javier Correa Elías  [ es ]. They have 4 children: Alexia, Nicolás, Sofía, and Michelle. [6] In May 2022, Nicolas Hochschild was appointed Non-Executive Director of the board of Hochschild Mining [7]

As of October 2021, per Forbes magazine, he has a net worth of US$1.1B. [1]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Huarón Mining District</span> Polymetallic deposit cluster

The Huarón Mining District is one of the richest polymetallic deposit clusters in Peru. It is located 20 km SSW of Cerro de Pasco, in the Huayllay District, Pasco Province, Pasco Department, between 4500 and 4700 m.a.s.l. The Huarón Mining District belongs to the Miocene polymetallic belt of the Central Andes. Hydrothermal mineralization occurs as predominantly in N-S to NNW-SSW and E-W veins as well as in "mantos" replacing favorable sedimentary rock. Epithermal hydrothermal fluids are thought to be derived from quartz-monzonitic intrusions tentatively dated at 7.4 Ma. The most important economic minerals are tennantite‐tetrahedrite, sphalerite, galena, and chalcopyrite. Silver is also found in pyrargyrite, proustite, polybasite, and pearceite. In the central copper core of the Huarón deposit, enargite occurs. Main gangue minerals are pyrite, quartz, rhodochrosite, and calcite.

Sali Hochschild was a German-born Chilean businessman, the founder of Compania Minera y Comercial Sali Hochschild S.A., once one of the largest mining and mineral processing companies in Chile.

Its founders include journalist and former editor of Investigation and Politics of El Mercurio Eduardo Sepúlveda, the commercial engineer Carlos Kubick O., José Antonio Guzmán A., former Chilean minister of sports Gabriel Ruiz-Tagle, and economist Hernán Büchi.
