Edwin Felipe Escobar Hill (born July 19,1969) is a Guatemalan entrepreneur,lecturer and politician who has served as Mayor of Villa Nueva since January 15,2012. [1] He has also served as President of the National Association of Municipalities of the Republic of Guatemala since 2016. [2] [3]
Edwin Escobar was Dean of Engineering at Universidad Rafael Landívar from 2002 to 2005. [4] During this time,he built TEC Landívar,which consists of 42 laboratories for students of different engineering studies at Universidad Rafael Landívar,Guatemala. [5]
From 1996 to 2004,he was board member and director at “Juannio”, [6] an annual charity art auctions event for the Neurological Institute of Guatemala, [7] of which he also was board director from 2002 to 2004. [8]
From 2008 to 2010,he hosted a TV talk show called "Construyendo Guatemala con Edwin Escobar" (Building Guatemala with Edwin Escobar),which aired on Canal Antigua. [9]
In 2018,he announced that he would participate as a presidential candidate in the 2019 general election for Citizen Prosperity. [10] On March 24,2019,it was announced that Edwin Escobar would be officially running for President of Guatemala. [11]

He is currently a member of the board of directors of Banco Industrial and PRONACA,a leading Ecuadorian food producer and distributor.

Rafael Landívar University(Universidad Rafael Landívar) is a private Catholic coeducational higher education institution run by the Society of Jesus in Vista Hermosa III Guatemala. It was founded by the Jesuits in 1961. The main campus is in Zone 16 of Guatemala City and is known as Vista Hermosa III. There are satellite campuses in Quetzaltenango,Huehuetenango,Cobán,Zacapa,and other parts of the country. Many recent Guatemalan presidents have studied at the university,including Ramiro de León Carpio,Álvaro Arzú,and Óscar Berger.
Eduardo Suger Cofiño is a Swiss-born Guatemalan physicist,scholar,educator,and politician. He is one of the founders of Galileo University in Guatemala City and of the Suger Montano Institute. Suger was the first Central American to receive his PhD in physics.
Sandra Monterroso is a Guatemalan visual artist and designer. Art historian Virginia Pérez-Ratton writes about Monterroso's beginnings as a performance artist in Guatemala during 1999 and 2000. Alongside her were other Guatemalan female performers like Regina JoséGalindo,Maria Adela Díaz,and Jessica Lagunas. Recently Monterroso's work focuses not only in performance art,she works with different media as videoart,installations and mix media. Her work is related to power structures,gender issues and decolonial thinking. Her work is included in the Artist Pension Trust.
Lucrecia Méndez de Penedo is a Guatemalan university professor,essayist,researcher,and literary and art critic. She has been instrumental in rescuing some of Guatemala's literary heritage from obscurity.
Luz Méndez de la Vega was a Guatemalan feminist writer,journalist,poet,academic and actress. As an academic,she concentrated on researching and rescuing the work of colonial Guatemalan women writers. She was the winner of Guatemala's highest prize for literature,Miguel Ángel Asturias National Literature Prize,and the Chilean Pablo Neruda Medal,among many other literary awards throughout her career.
Daniel Enrique Salaverry Villa is a Peruvian architect,businessman and politician. Between 2016 and 2019,he served in Congress representing the Department of La Libertad. Elected to Congress under the Fujimorist Popular Force party,he was the party's spokesperson for a year,and was President of the Congress from 2018 to 2019. He ran as a candidate for the presidency of Peru for the We Are Peru party in the 2021 general elections.

A second round of the presidential elections was held on 11 August 2019,since no candidate won a majority in the first round. Alejandro Giammattei won the election in the second round of voting.

In 2017,she resigned from her position in protest over President Jimmy Morales ordering the expulsion of United Nations anti-corruption investigator Iván Velásquez Gómez.
César Guillermo Castillo Reyes is a Guatemalan politician and lawyer who is the incumbent Vice President of Guatemala. Castillo graduated as a lawyer from the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala in 1998 and then completed a master's degree in human rights at the Rafael Landívar University.
Manuel Ricardo Villacorta Orantes is a Guatemalan politician,professor and writer. He served as Guatemala's ambassador to Israel from 1999 to 2000,was also a presidential candidate in 2019,where he placed in seventh place with 5.2% of the vote.
General elections will be held in Guatemala in 25 June 2023 to elect the President and Congress,with a second round of the presidential elections to be held in 20 August if no candidate wins a majority in the first round.
