Edwina von Gal is an American landscape designer [1] based in East Hampton, New York. Her firm, Edwina von Gal + Co founded in 1984, is based in East Hampton, NY and focuses on natural, sustainable designs. She has worked with numerous architects, designers and art world luminaries, among them Maya Lin, Annabelle Selldorf, Richard Gluckman, Richard Meier, Larry Gagosian, Cindy Sherman, David Maupin, Stefano Tonchi, Calvin Klein, and Richard Serra. [2] She designed the park for Panama's Biomuseo, with Frank Gehry. Her approach emphasizes sustainability, natural landscapes, and the use of native species. [3]

In 2008 she founded the Azuero Earth Project in Panama to promote chemical-free reforestation with native trees on the Azuero Peninsula.[ citation needed ] [4]

In 2013 she founded the Perfect Earth Project to “promote nature-based, toxic-free land care practices for the health of people, their pets, and the planet.” The organization’s key programs are based on its mission, which is to "educate, engage, and inspire individuals, land care professionals, and decision makers to adopt toxic-free, nature-based, and climate-responsible landscaping practices for a healthier, more sustainable—and beautiful—environment for all." [5] [6] She is the founder and board chair. [7]

In 2024, she was named one of the top 50 Creatives in America by Wallpaper magazine, photographed by Inez & Vinoodh. [8]

Her husband Jay Chiat, died in 2002. She has a daughter, Ariel Sheldon, and a grandson, Dylan.

Maya Ying Lin is an American architect, designer and sculptor. Born in Athens, Ohio to Chinese immigrants, she attended Yale University to study architecture. In 1981, while still an undergraduate at Yale she achieved national recognition when she won a national design competition for the planned Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The memorial was designed in the minimalist architectural style, and it attracted controversy upon its release but went on to become influential. He has taught at Harvard's Graduate School of Design Since 1982 and served as chair of its Landscape Architecture Department from 1991 to 1996.

Kathryn Gustafson is an American landscape architect. Her work includes the Gardens of the Imagination in Terrasson, France; a city square in Évry, France; and the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park, London. She has won awards and prizes including the Millennium Garden Design Competition. She is known for her ability to create sculptural forms, using earth, grass, stone and water.

Bill Bensley, born William Bensley, is an American landscape architect, architect, and interior designer who has designed over 200 hospitality projects in 50 countries. He is the founder and creative director of Bangkok and Bali-based design studio Bensley, established in 1989 and 1990 respectively.
