Eighteen Chefs is a restaurant chain and franchise company in Singapore. [1] It specializes in Western food, but local cuisine is also served. As of September 2020, Eighteen Chefs has a total of eleven outlets in Singapore. [2]

History

The first Eighteen Chefs outlet was opened in 2007, at Eastpoint Mall, by the ex-offender and former drug addict Benny Se Teo. [3] [4]

While on an internship with Jamie Oliver, he heard about the Fifteen Foundation. He started Eighteen Chefs along similar lines, [5] and is now the director of the company in 2015.

In 2009, three outlets located at Yishun, Tiong Bahru and Buona Vista were closed due to financial losses. [6] [7]

Jamie's Kitchen is a five-part British documentary television series that aired on Channel 4 from 5 November to 10 December 2002. It follows chef Jamie Oliver as he attempts to train a group of 15 unemployed youths, who will—if they complete the course—be offered jobs at Oliver's new restaurant Fifteen. The series was executive produced by Peter Moore for Talkback Productions, and has since spawned several others along similar lines.

Daniel Ong Ming Yu is a Singaporean businessman, radio DJ and television host. He is the co-founder of Twelve Cupcakes, a Singapore-based cupcake chain. He also entered the eateries business with Mischief American street food at Esplanade in 2015, and Rookery at Hong Leong building in 2014. He was a radio deejay in Singapore's MediaCorp Radio 987FM and television host.

Violet Oon is a Singaporean chef, restaurateur, and food writer known for her food columns, cookbooks, and restaurants specializing in Peranakan cuisine. She has been the food ambassador of Singapore since 1988.

Odette is a Singaporean restaurant. Founded in 2015 by chef Julien Royer in collaboration with the local Lo & Behold Group, Odette features a fusion of French cuisine with Asian influences, including of Singapore's.

Anastasia Tjendri-Liew is the founder and managing director of Bengawan Solo, one of Singapore's bakery franchises.
