Ek Mamnua Muhabbat ki Kahani (An illicit Love Story or A Forbidden Love Story) [1] is the second novel by Rahman Abbas . It was first published in 2009 and was awarded Best Novel of The Year in 2011 by the Universal Society for Peace and Research (Aurangabad). [2] The book was an immediate success in the Urdu speaking world. [3]
The novel is a heart-touching and melancholic love story between a 15-year-old boy-Abdul Aziz and a married woman-Sakina. [3] The story is set in a remote village of Kokan i.e., on the western coastline of India, a village not yet connected with the modern world and immersed in the magic of its own culture and dialect. The book mesmerizes readers by all seasons of the western coastal region, one can strongly smell the torrential rainfall, rice paddies, Alphonso mango orchards, rivulets in deep forests, snakes with golden skin, Garcinia indica, (Kokum trees) and its soar taste, superstitions, Jinn and birds forecasting luck along with the stories of people who have never seen other places or countries. An Illicit Love Story is considered one of the most passionate and imaginative love stories written by any Urdu writer in the last two decades in Urdu fiction. The novel begins with the wedding rituals where the protagonists Abdul Aziz and Sakina accidentally indulge in a sexual encounter that thrived into a lifelong romantic relationship. Sakina begets a son (Yusuf) out of this illicit relationship who was destined to become a religious scholar and preacher who later advocates the puritan religious ways. However, Abdul Aziz grows into a mature person having faith in the composite culture and liberal values. He challenged dogmatic thinking and fundamentalism [4] but as a consequence of countering with the religious dictum, the disciples of Yusuf killed Aziz. The story creates doubts in the hearts of readers that Yusuf might have killed Abdul Aziz because he realized that his mother had an extra-marital affair with Aziz and that wounded Yusuf more than the free-thinking of Aziz. The novel is considered one of the most imaginative love stories written by any Urdu writer in the last two decades in Urdu fiction. The former President of the Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, Gopi Chand Narang has said during a seminar titled Urdu Novel on the threshold of 21st Century that in this novel the author has woven two love stories artistically, the intersexuality is rich with several layers. Eminent critic Waris Alvi has said that in this novel Rahman has smartly used humor. On the other hand, fiction writer Sajid Rashid said that undoubtedly it is a major love story, beautifully written, it also poses serious questions about the time we are living in. The book has been discussed in various literary magazines in both India and Pakistan. [6] [7]

Rohzin is the fourth novel of Rahman Abbas. On this novel he won India's highest literary Award Sahitya Akademi Award in 2018. Published in 2016 by Arshia Publications, Delhi, and launched at the Jashn-e-Rekhta, Delhi on 14 February 2016. Since, then, Rohzin has been widely debated in India, Pakistan, the Middle East, Canada, Switzerland, and Germany. The author coins the word- 'Rohzin' to signify the psychological trauma of children who witness the betrayal of their parents/sleeping with someone else. Critics in the Global South think of Rohzin as a literary landmark in Urdu literature.
Mohammad Hameed Shahid born 23 March 1957 is a Pakistani Short story Writer, Novelist and literary critic (نقاد). He is well known for his fiction writings in Urdu. He was awarded the Award with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2016, one of the highest literary honour given by the Government of Pakistan.
Kahani Eik Raat Ki is a Pakistani thriller anthology television series that was broadcast on ARY Digital during 2012–2013. The broadcast consisted mainly of small horror/romantic/thriller stories in a mini format. Zameen, alternatively spelled Zamin, is an Urdu novel by Pakistani novelist and short story writer Khadija Mastoor. The novel was published posthumously by Idara-e-Farogh-e-Urdu in 1983. Daisy Rockwell, PhD, translated it into English and released it in July 2019 under the title A Promised Land. Zameen depicts the economic and political upheaval that entailed the partition of British India. It begins at the final setting of Mastoor's first novel Aangan – the Walton refugee camp in Lahore. Consequently, it is sometimes considered an extension of Aangan, however, Rockwell has clarified that it is not a narrative sequel, rather a philosophical and thematic follow-up. It is considered a political allegory and a women-centric historical account of Pakistan's independence.
Raqeeb Se is a Pakistani romantic drama television series produced by Momina Duraid, written by Bee Gul and directed by Kashif Nisar. It aired on Hum TV from 20 January 2021 to 26 May 2021 all under MD Productions. Raqeeb Se revolves around the repercussions of a love story stretched around one's entire life. It features an ensemble cast of Hadiqa Kiani, Nauman Ijaz, Sania Saeed, Iqra Aziz, Faryal Mehmood and Saqib Sumeer.
Mohiuddin Nawab was a Pakistani novelist, screenwriter, and poet. He is famous for his popular novel series, "Devta" that was episodically and continuously published in Suspense Digest from February 1977 to January 2010. Devta is the autobiography of a fictional character, Farhad Ali Taimur, who is a master of telepathy and a womanizer.
Apart from Devta, Nawab wrote nearly 600 romantic, social, spy, and historical short/novel-length stories for renowned digests like, Jasoosi Digest, and Suspense Digest. Some of his notable stories include Kachra Ghar, Iman Ka Safar, Khali Seep, and Adha Chehra. A collection of his poetry and prose has been published under the title, "Do Tara". Nawab also wrote scripts for a few movies including, "Jo Darr Gya Woh Marr Gya" (1995).

Zindeeq is the fifth novel by Urdu novelist Rahman Abbas, the winner of the Sahitya Akademi Award for his fourth novel, Rohzin in 2018. Zindeeq was published in November 2021 by Arshia Publication, New Delhi. Rahman has received an international grant to study Nazism in Germany and find out how the politics in Pakistan and India will affect its minorities. The novel research grant was awarded by 'Crossing Borders' programme, jointly held by the Robert Bosch Foundation and the Literarisches Colloquium, Berlin as reported by LCB & TOI.

Muhabbat Gumshuda Meri is a 2023 Pakistani romantic drama television series produced by Momina Duraid under MD Productions. It stars Khushhal Khan and Dananeer Mobeen. It is directed by Shahid Shafaat who received an award at the 9th Hum Awards for Best Director for the series.
