Bangladesh Nationalist Party is a major political party in Bangladesh. Founded on 1 September 1978 by the late Bangladeshi president Ziaur Rahman,with a view of uniting people with a nationalist ideology,BNP later came out as one of the two most dominant parties in Bangladesh,along with its archrival Awami League. Initially being a big tent centrist party,it moved towards more right-wing politics later.
The Jatiya Party is a political party in Bangladesh. The current chairman of the party is Ghulam Muhammed Quader. On 3 January 2019,the party announced its decision to join the Bangladesh Awami League-led Grand Alliance after having been in opposition for the previous parliamentary term. However,the party backtracked the next day and announced that it intended to remain part of the opposition. Currently,it holds Rangpur out of Bangladesh's 12 city corporations.

Obaidul Quader is a Bangladeshi politician who has been the General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League since October 2016. He was the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges during 2011–2024 and represented the Noakhali-5 constituency as a Jatiya Sangsad member during 2009–2024. He is also the Media Adviser for the Bangladesh Awami League and regularly conducts press conferences on their behalf. Previously he served as the State Minister for Youth and Sports between 1996 and 2001.
Bangladesh Pratidin is a Bengali-language independent daily newspaper in Bangladesh. It was founded on 15 March 2010. Bangladesh Pratidin tops the list of highest circulated dailies in the country out of 345 newspapers published from Dhaka and elsewhere,the information minister told parliament 10 March 2014. Naem Nizam is the editor of Bangladesh Pratidin. Bangladesh Pratidin is a subsidiary of East West Media Group (EWMG),which is owned by Bashundhara Group. On behalf of EWMG,the publisher of the newspaper is Moynal Hossain Chowdhury.
Enforced disappearances in Bangladesh are cases in which the Government of Bangladesh directly or indirectly kidnaps people and holds them incommunicado. According to a Dhaka-based human rights group Odhikar,at least 402 people have become victim of enforced disappearance from 2009 to 2017 under the former Awami League administration. These incidents along with extrajudicial killings in Bangladesh has been criticized by The United Nations and human rights groups including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International. Rapid Action Battalion (RAB),a special paramilitary unit in Bangladesh,is alleged to be behind most of these disappearances even though RAB claimed these allegations to be false. The current Awami League government denies involvement in these forced disappearances even when victims later surface in custody.
Nizam Uddin Hazari is an Awami League politician and a former Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Feni-2 constituency.

Previously he served as director general of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). He was made the DG of RAB in April 2020. Prior to join RAB,he was the chief of Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Killing of Ekramul Haque refers to the extrajudicial killing of Ekramul Haque,councillor of Teknaf Municipality Ward three,by a unit of Rapid Action Battalion. He was elected as councilor in Teknaf Municipality three times in a row as a candidate of Awami League. Haque was a former President of Teknaf unit of Jubo League,the youth wing of Awami League,for 13 years. Bangladesh government was carrying a crackdown on the narcotics trade and the death of more than a 100 suspects in shoot-outs with law enforcement agencies. Since 2018 more than 200 individuals were killed in extrajudicial shootings by law enforcement agencies in Teknaf alone.
Mohammad Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan (Manik) is a Bangladeshi businessman,sports organizer,and politician. He is the chairman of Toma Group,a major Bangladeshi conglomerate. He is the vice-president of the Bangladesh Football Federation,the associate of FIFA in Bangladesh.
