Elbewerft Boizenburg was a German shipbuilding company, headquartered in Boizenburg. Since 1990 it has been part of the Deutschen Maschinen- und Schiffbau AG (DMS AG). [1]
The boat workshop was founded by Franz Jürgen Lemm in 1793. [2] The first steel ship was launched in 1895. The shipyard developed quickly, from Elbewerft, Boizenburger Werft to Thomsen & Co, in 1938. After World War II the shipyard was founded as VVW Elbewerft Boizenburg VEB on the basis of Thomsen & Co and after 1945 and the separation of Germany, the shipyard focused on markets in Eastern Europe. In 1970, after fusion with shipyard in Roßlau, [3] Elbewerft Boizenburg became part of VEB Elbewerften Boizenburg/Roßlau, which was one of the most renowned state-owned shipyards of the German Democratic Republic.
Aktien-Gesellschaft „Weser" was one of the major German shipbuilding companies, located at the Weser River in Bremen. Founded in 1872 it was finally closed in 1983. All together, A.G. „Weser" built about 1,400 ships of different types, including many warships. A.G. „Weser" was the leading company in the Deutsche Schiff- und Maschinenbau AG, a cooperation of eight German shipbuilding companies between 1926 and 1945.
Boizenburg is a municipality in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. It is situated on the right bank of the Elbe, 53 km west of Ludwigslust, 25 km northeast of Lüneburg and 50 km east of Hamburg. It is part of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. Boizenburg's historical old town stretches along the Elbe, has a harbour and offers heritage baroque timberframe and brick buildings.

The Dmitriy Furmanov is a Dmitriy Furmanov-class Soviet/Russian river cruise ship, cruising in the Volga – Neva basin. The ship was built by VEB Elbewerften Boizenburg/Roßlau at their shipyard in Boizenburg, East Germany, and entered service in 1983. The ship is named after the famous Bolshevik commissar and writer of the book Chapayev about Vasily Chapayev, a Red Army officer and a hero of the Civil War.
The T. G. Shevchenko is a Dmitriy Furmanov-class Soviet/Ukrainian/Kazakh river cruise ship, cruising in the Neva – Volga – Don – Dnepr – Black Sea basin, from Nesebar on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast and Constanța to Saint Petersburg on the Baltic Sea in Russia, and since November 2010 hotelship in the Kurmangazy oil field in the Kazakh section of the Caspian Sea. The ship was built by Elbewerft Boizenburg at their shipyard in Boizenburg, Germany, named after Ukrainian painter and poet Taras Shevchenko and entered service in 1991. Her home port is currently Aktau.
Lloyd Werft Wismar is a German shipbuilding company, headquartered in Wismar. Since June 1, 1990 it has been part of the Deutschen Maschinen- und Schiffbau AG, 2009–2016 was part of the Nordic Yards Holding GmbH, and since 2016 is part of the Lloyd Werft Group.
The Xian Ni is a Dmitriy Furmanov-class Chinese river cruise ship, cruising on the Yangtze River. The ship was built by VEB Elbewerften Boizenburg/Roßlau at their shipyard in Boizenburg, East Germany, and entered service in 1994. Her home port is currently Nantong.
The Zosima Shashkov is a Dmitriy Furmanov-class Soviet/Russian river cruise ship, cruising in the Volga – Neva basin between Russian old and new capitals: Moscow and Saint Petersburg. The ship was built by VEB Elbewerften Boizenburg/Roßlau at their shipyard in Boizenburg, East Germany, and entered service in 1986. She was refurbished in 2012. Zosima Shashkov is currently operated by Vodohod, a Russian river cruise line, and her home port is Nizhny Novgorod. The ship is named after the Bolshevik commissar and minister of the Sea and River Fleet of the USSR Zosima Alekseyevich Shashkov.
The Volga Star is a Dmitriy Furmanov-class Soviet/Russian river cruise ship, cruising in the Volga – Neva basin. The ship was built by VEB Elbewerften Boizenburg/Roßlau at their shipyard in Boizenburg, East Germany, and entered service in 1983. From 2011 to February 2019 the ship was named after Russian, and later French and American, composer, pianist and conductor Igor Stravinsky.
The Sergey Dyagilev is a Dmitriy Furmanov-class Soviet/Russian river cruise ship, cruising in the Volga – Neva basin. The ship was built by VEB Elbewerften Boizenburg/Roßlau at their shipyard in Boizenburg, East Germany, and entered service in 1983. The ship is named after Russian art critic, patron, ballet impresario and founder of the Ballets Russes Sergei Diaghilev.
The Viking Helgi is a Dmitriy Furmanov-class Soviet/Russian river cruise ship, cruising in the Volga – Neva basin. The ship was built by VEB Elbewerften Boizenburg/Roßlau at their shipyard in Boizenburg, East Germany, and entered service in 1984 as Aleksey Surkov being renamed after Oleg of Novgorod in its Scandinavian version Helgi in 2012.

The ship was built by VEB Elbewerften Boizenburg/Roßlau at their shipyard in Boizenburg, East Germany, and entered service in 1977. 2004–2015 owned and operated by Grand Circle Cruise Line. Her home port is currently Rostov-on-Don.
The Sea-Eye is a former fishing trawler. The ship was bought by Sea-Eye e.V. in 2014 and was used as a rescue ship in the southern Mediterranean from 2015 to 2018, primarily between Malta and Libya. The ship sailed under the flag of the Netherlands. Her sister ship is the Seefuchs, which until 2019 was also used by Sea-Eye.
The ship Life is a former fishing cutter, which was used in the Mediterranean from 2017 to 2018 under the name Seefuchs for the Sea-Eye association from Regensburg as a rescue ship between Malta and Libya. In 2019 the ship was given away to the Spanish organisation Proem-Aid. In 2021, the ship was intercepted in international waters with a large drug load after being bought by drug dealers, in a joint investigation by the Guardia Civil and the Servicio de Vigilancia Aduanera.
