The Festival della canzone italiana di Sanremo is the most popular Italian song contest and awards ceremony, held annually in the city of Sanremo, Liguria, and consisting of a competition amongst previously unreleased songs. Usually referred to as Festival di Sanremo, or in English as Sanremo Music Festival, it is the music equivalent to the Premio Regia Televisiva for television, the Premio Ubu for stage performances, and the Premio David di Donatello for motion pictures.

It is typically served with butter and truffles or sugo d’arrosto, a sauce made from the drippings of roast meat. Tagliolini have a short cooking time, especially when made from fresh dough, and work best with light sauces, fish, delicacies or soups.

The 2013 Sardinia floods took place in and around the Sardinian town of Olbia between 17 and 19 November 2013. They also affected other parts of northeastern Sardinia and killed at least 18 people. Thousands of people were left homeless. The places which suffered the most damage were Olbia, and in general the whole region of Gallura. The flood caused damages of over 1 billion euro.
