Elevenplay is a Japanese dance troupe noted for their incorporation of advanced technologies into their works. [1] It is headed by director and principal choreographer Mikiko. [2]

Performances

The collaborated with the Rhizomatics groups to produce a piece called Shadow, which also uses three drones as well as one spot light and one dancer. [3] Elevenplay teamed up with the Rhizomatiks again to produce the show Pulse, for the Festival Internacional Cervantino in Mexico. This piece relies on projection-mapping both on the background and on the dancers. [2]

They have also collaborated individually with Rhizomatics director Daito Manabe to create a technology-enhanced show called Drone-Augmented Amazingness, which uses three drones as well as a projection-mapped backdrop. At first, the dancers direct the drones, but by the end of the piece, the drones replace the dancers. [1] [4]

Crystal Pite is a Canadian choreographer and dancer. She began her professional dance career in 1988 at Ballet BC, and in 1996 she joined Ballett Frankfurt under the tutelage of William Forsythe. After leaving Ballett Frankfurt she became the resident choreographer of Montreal company Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal from 2001 to 2004. She then returned to Vancouver where she focused on choreographing while continuing to dance in her own pieces until 2010. In 2002 she formed her own company called Kidd Pivot, which produced her original works Uncollected Work (2003), Double Story (2004), Lost Action (2006), Dark Matters (2009), The You Show (2010), The Tempest Replica (2011), Betroffenheit (2015), and Revisor (2019) to date. Rhizomatiks is a Japanese company which is dedicated to creating large scale commercial and artistic projects using both the arts and technology. Founded in 2006, the company has members from various fields such as visuals arts, media arts, computer programming, architecture, engineering and more. They have collaborated with various professionals and companies to produce music, dance recitals, videos and even sports such as a figure skate, facing, basketball and synchronised swimming. They came to wide attention in 2008 with Daito Manabe's YouTube video and 2010 with Perfume's live concert at Tokyo Dome and have become a common sight at Ars Electronica and transmedia festivals around the world.

"Holy Dance" is a song by Japanese band Sakanaction. Originally released as the B-side of the band's single "Identity" in 2010, the song was remixed for inclusion on the band's fifth album Documentaly as a bonus track. She was a production consultant and choreographer for Tokyo's handover presentation at the 2016 Summer Olympics closing ceremony.

Daito Manabe is a Japanese media artist, programmer, engineer, and DJ who creates artwork and interactive installations that utilize contemporary technologies such as virtual reality as well as prominent use of light and sound. He founded Rhizomatiks in 2006 after graduating from the University of Tokyo. His work with Rhizomatiks includes collaborations with Perfume, Björk, Nike, Honda, an augmented reality computer graphics display at the closing ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and a collaboration with two-time Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu in the creation of his solo ice show production Gift, the first figure skating event to be held at Tokyo Dome.
