Elilenthini Sethukavalar also spelled as Elilenthinie Sethukavalar also simply known as Elil Sethukavalar (born 4 April 1995) is a Sri Lankan netball player represents Sri Lankan netball team in international netball tournaments and also works as an employee at Citizens Development Business Finance. [1] [2]

Career

She started playing netball in 2013 and her height standing at 196 cm tall, caught the eyes of the selectors which helped her to storm into the national side in 2018. [3] She also became the second player after Tharjini Sivalingam from Jaffna to represent Sri Lanka in international netball.

Elilenthini made her international debut at the 2018 Asian Netball Championships and was a key member of the Sri Lankan contingent which emerged as champions during the tournament beating Singapore 69-50 in the final, which also marked Sri Lanka's first Asian Netball Championships triumph since 2009. [4] [5] She also represented Sri Lanka at the 2019 Netball World Cup, which was also her first World Cup tournament. [6] [7]

He was the former captain of the Sri Lanka national rugby union team. Marija comes from a sporting family background, with at least 17 members through two generations having represented various Clubs, Services Teams and National Rugby teams during the past four decades. Marija hails from the hill capital Kandy.

Tharjini Sivalingam is a former Sri Lankan veteran netball player and former skipper of the Sri Lankan national netball team. With her staggering height of 210 cm or 6 ft 10.5in, she has been recognized as one of the most successful shooters of all time and often regarded as the tallest netball player ever. She is the most capped international netball player to represent Sri Lanka. She was a regular member of the Sri Lanka national team in international netball tournaments since making her debut in 2009. She is well known for her unusually tall height and considered one of the marquee players in Sri Lankan netball history. She also faced many hardships in her childhood as she grew up in a warzone.

The 2018 Asian Netball Championships is the 11th edition of the Asian Netball Championships was held in Singapore. The championships which was held at the OCBC Arena at the Singapore Sports Hub from September 1–9.

Nauchalee Rajapakse is a Sri Lankan netball player who represents Sri Lankan netball team in international netball tournaments. She represents Army SC in local netball competitions.

Chathurangi Jayasooriya also spelled as Chathurangi Jayasuriya is a Sri Lankan netball player and the current captain of the Sri Lanka national netball team who plays in the positions of goal defense or goal keeper. She has been a regular member of the Sri Lankan team since 2011 and took over the captaincy of the national side from fellow veteran Tharjini Sivalingam in 2017. She plays in the position of goal defense and also as the goal keeper. She also currently serves as the flight lieutenant at the Sri Lanka Air Force.

Charmaine Soh Shi Hui is a retired Singaporean netball player and former captain of the Singapore national team who played either as a goal attack or goal shooter. Charmaine officially captained the national side at the 2019 Netball World Cup replacing Vanessa Marie Lee who took a brief break from the sport in 2018. She has featured in three World Cup tournaments for Singapore in 2011, 2015 and 2019. She is Singapore's most-capped netballer, with 128 competitive appearances.

Kimberly Lim Wei Yan is a Singaporean netball player who represents Singapore internationally and plays in the positions of wing attack or centre. She was part of the Singaporean squads during the 2015 Netball World Cup and 2019 Netball World Cup. She was just one of two survivors along with skipper Charmaine Soh in the 2019 World Cup squad to have played in the 2015 World Cup.

Vanessa Marie Lee also known as Vanessa Lee is a Singaporean netball player and former captain of the Singapore national team who has been in international circuit since her debut in 2002. She has played at two World Cups in 2011, 2015 and has also represented Singapore at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, 2017 and 2019 SEA Games, and at the Asian Netball Championships. Vanessa Lee is regarded as one of the finest netball players to have emerged from Singapore.

Dulangi Wannithilake also spelled as Dulangi Wannithileka is a Sri Lankan netball player who also is a basketball player and represents Sri Lankan netball team in international netball tournament.

Gayani Dissanayake is a Sri Lankan netball player and a former captain of the Sri Lanka national netball team who plays in the position of goal defense or goal keeper in international netball tournaments. She is the second most capped player for Sri Lanka after veteran Tharjini Sivalingam.

Mellony Wijesinghe was a Sri Lankan netball player who played in the position of goal shooter in international netball tournaments. She died on 20 October 2019 from suspected leukaemia. She was treated by Dr Eliyantha White in July 2019 for a shoulder injury after which she developed loss of red blood cells, however tests conducted in India and South Africa have not revealed any trace of leukaemia.

Darshika Abeywickrama also spelt as either Dharshika Abeywickrama or Darshika Abeywickrema is a Sri Lankan netball player who plays in the positions of goal defense or goalkeeper. She is nicknamed "Bale".

Roshita Joseph also spelt as Joseph Roshita is a Sri Lankan carrom player. She was also a former number 1 women’s carrom player in Sri Lanka and has won the national titles on six occasions. In 2020, she became a world champion in the women’s singles of the inaugural edition of the World Online Carrom Championship. She is currently attached to Sri Lankan Navy.

Gayanjali Amarawansa is a Sri Lankan netball player who plays for the national team in the position of centre. She is also currently employed at the Hatton National Bank and also occasionally plays basketball and netball for her bank in domestic competitions.
