Elixir Press is an American, independent, nonprofit literary press located in Denver, Colorado. [1] The press was founded by Dana Curtis in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2000 and relocated to Denver in 2004. [2] [3]

Authors published by Elixir Press include Diann Blakely, Bruce Bond, Amina Gautier, Erin Hoover, Sarah Kennedy, Kathryn Nuernberger, Jane Satterfield, Seth Brady Tucker, Anthony Varallo, and Jake Adam York. Elixir Press titles have been reviewed in venues including Publishers Weekly [4] [5] and the New York Times Book Review. [6] Diann Blakely's book, Cities of Flesh and the Dead, won the Alice Fay di Castagnola Award from the Poetry Society of America. Books published by Elixir Press have won awards from the Chicago Public Library [7] and The Independent Publisher Book Awards, [8] as well as being nominated as a finalist for the Colorado Book Awards in Poetry. Elixir Press holds three national book contests open to authors writing in English. Each prize offers a cash award and publication of the winning manuscript. Each year the Elixir Poetry Book Awards features a Judge's Prize and an Editors' Prize competition open to all poets. [11] Begun in 2006, the Elixir Press Fiction Award is presented to the writer of a novel or short story collection every two years. [12] The Antivenom Prize has been awarded annually for first or second books of poetry since 2009. [13] [14]

Her third, A Pillow Book, was named by the New York Times as one of the ten best books of poetry in 2016. Her first, Past Imperfect, won the Gerald Lampert Award in 2006. Her second, The Irrationalist, was shortlisted for the 2011 Griffin Poetry Prize. Her poems have been published in literary journals and magazines including The New York Times, Poetry, Jubilat, A Public Space, Denver Quarterly, Colorado Review, Books in Canada, and Prairie Schooner; and in anthologies including Breathing Fire: Canada's New Poets. She earned an MA in English from Concordia University in Montreal, and an MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop. Born in Montreal and raised in Vancouver, B.C., she lives in Chicago. Buffam was a judge for the 2013 Griffin Poetry Prize.

Milkweed Editions is an independent, nonprofit literary publisher founded in Minneapolis in 1980. It releases eighteen to twenty new books each year in the genres of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Milkweed Editions annually awards three prizes for poetry: the Lindquist & Vennum Prize for Poetry, the Jake Adam York Prize, and they are a partner publisher for the National Poetry Series. In 2016, they opened an independent bookstore focused on the sale of literary works.

Jake Adam York was an American poet. A fourth book, Abide, was released posthumously, in 2014. That same year he was also named a posthumous recipient of the Witter Bynner Fellowship by the U.S. Poet Laureate.

Four Way Books is an American nonprofit literary publisher located in New York City, New York, which publishes poetry and short fiction by emerging and established writers. It features the work of the winners of national poetry competitions, as well as collections accepted through general submission, panel selection, and solicitation by the editors. April Ossmann is an American poet, teacher, and editor. She is author of Event Boundaries and Anxious Music, and has had her poems published in many literary journals including Harvard Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Puerto del Sol, Seneca Review, Passages North, Mid-American Review, and Colorado Review, and in anthologies including From the Fishouse, and Contemporary Poetry of New England. Her awards include a 2000 Prairie Schooner Reader's Choice Award.

Carmen Giménez Smith

Carmen Giménez Smith is an American poet, writer and editor.

Diann Blakely was an American poet, essayist, editor, and critic. She taught at Belmont University, Harvard University, Vanderbilt University, led workshops at two Vermont College residencies, and served as senior instructor and the first poet-in-residence at the Harpeth Hall School in Nashville, Tennessee. A "Robert Frost Fellow" at Bread Loaf, she was a Dakin Williams Fellow at the Sewanee Writers' Conference at which she had worked earlier as founding coordinator.

Seth Brady Tucker is an American poet and fiction writer and veteran and is known for his creative and scholarly contributions to contemporary War Literature, in particular, the first Persian Gulf War. His second book of poems, We Deserve the Gods We Ask For, was published by Gival Press in 2015. His first book of poetry, Mormon Boy, was published by Elixir Press in 2012. His books and his fiction and poetry have won Bevel Summers Fiction Prize from Shenandoah, the Flash Fiction Award from Literal Latte, and was a finalist for the Jeff Sharlet Award from the Iowa Review, the Lamar York Nonfiction Prize, the James Hearst Poetry Prize, and was a Special Mention in the Pushcart Prize Anthology.
