Elizabeth Calabrese

Elizabeth Calabrese is an American Democratic Party politician, who has served on the Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders in New Jersey from 2004 to 2010. On January 2, 2007, Calabrese was chosen to serve as freeholder vice-chairman.^[1] In 2010, her constituents voted her out of office when the Republicans regained the majority on the Bergen County freeholder board. ^[2]

The Democratic Party is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States, along with the Republican Party. As of the 2017 Census estimate, the county's population was 948,406, an increase of 4.8% from the 2010 United States Census, which in turn represented an increase of 20,998 (2.4%) from the 884,118 counted in the 2000 Census. Located in the northeastern corner of New Jersey and its Gateway Region, Bergen County is part of the New York City Metropolitan Area and is directly across the Hudson River from Manhattan, to which it is connected by the George Washington Bridge.

She has served as chairwoman of the education committee as well as chairwoman to the Special Services School Board of Estimate. Calabrese is a member of the Cultural and Historic Affairs, Organization and Internal Affairs, and Personnel Committees.

Calabrese has served as a councilwoman in Wallington, New Jersey since 2000, where she worked as the first chairwoman of the Recreation Committee, as well as chairwoman of the Welfare & Aging Committee.^[3] She also serves on the DPW Committee as well as the Health, Environment and Senior Services Committee. She is currently chairperson of Public Buildings and Grounds.

Wallington is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 11,335, reflecting a decline of 248 (-2.1%) from the 11,583 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 755 (+7.0%) from the 10,828 counted in the 1990 Census.

Calabrese and her family immigrated to the United States during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Calabrese and her husband Charles have been residents of Wallington for 28 years. They have three daughters: Lauren, Christina, and Julianna.

Elease Evans is an American Democratic Party politician who served in the New Jersey General Assembly from November 2007 until January 2012, representing the 35th legislative district. Ms. Evans held a seat that was vacated by former Assemblyman Alfred E. Steele on September 10, 2007. She was first sworn into the Assembly on November 9, 2007.

Gerald A. Calabrese was an American politician who served as Mayor of Cliffside Park, New Jersey continuously for 50 years, from 1965 to 2015. He was a member of the Democratic Party. Earlier in life, Calabrese played in the NBA for two seasons with the Syracuse Nationals.

Kathleen A. Donovan is an American Republican Party politician, who served as County Executive of Bergen County, New Jersey. She previously served as County Clerk of Bergen County, New Jersey for four terms, and one term in the New Jersey General Assembly. Donovan unsuccessfully sought support to run for Bergen County Executive in the 2002 Republican primary, and lost a campaign for the 2006 Republican nomination for County Executive. She ran again for County Executive in 2010, where she defeated incumbent Dennis McNerney.

Concetta "Connie" Wagner is an American Democratic Party politician, who had served in the New Jersey General Assembly since January 8, 2008, where she had represented the 38th legislative district until her resignation on October 1, 2013.

Annette M. Quijano is an American Democratic Party politician, who was selected by Union County Democrats to fill a vacancy to represent the 20th Legislative District in the New Jersey General Assembly and has since been re-elected three times to her Assembly seat. Quijano succeeded Neil M. Cohen, who resigned on July 28, 2008 amid allegations of child pornography on an official computer.

Doris Meyer Mahalick was an American Democratic Party official who served on the Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders. She served as the Mayor of Wallington, New Jersey and as the first woman to serve as the Bergen County Police Commissioner when she was appointed in 1965. She was elected Freeholder in 1975, and was re-elected in 1978, 1981 and 1984. She lost a bid for the New Jersey State Assembly in 1967. In 1986, she sought the Democratic nomination for Bergen County Executive after voters changed the form of government; party leaders instead picked State Senator Matthew Feldman as their candidate. She declined to seek re-election as Freeholder, and in the general election she endorsed Feldman's Republican opponent, William D. McDowell. After McDowell won, Mahalick joined his administration. She retired to Wildwood Crest, New Jersey and Palm Beach, Florida, and died in 2008 at age 83 after battles with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.

Elizabeth Maher Muoio is an American Democratic Party politician who serves as the Treasurer of New Jersey. Previously, she had been a member of the New Jersey General Assembly, the lower house of the New Jersey Legislature, representing the 15th Legislative District from 2015 to 2018. She had also served as a councilwoman from the borough of Pennington and a Mercer County Freeholder.

Virginia E. "Ginny" Haines is an American Republican Party politician from New Jersey who serves on the Ocean County Board of chosen freeholders. She had served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1992 to 1994 and had been appointed to head the New Jersey Lottery from 1994 to 2002.

The Bergen County Executive is county executive of Bergen County, New Jersey, United States who, as the chief officer of the county's executive branch, oversees the administration of county government. The office was inaugurated in 1986 at the same time the Board of Chosen Freeholders, which plays a legislative role, was reconfigured. The New Jersey Superior Court had subsumed and replaced county courts in 1983. The executive offices are located in the county seat, Hackensack.

Linda Carter is an American Democratic Party politician. A resident of Plainfield, she has represented the 22nd Legislative District in the New Jersey General Assembly since 2018.
